Draymond and the refs

Have you ever seen a player get away with the level of aggression and abuse that Draymond unleashes on the refs?

He actually slapped the hell out of a ref last night while flailing his arms in anger over a call. How was that not a tech? I have never seen anything like that in all my years watching basketball.

So I came into this series loving the way he plays BASKETBALL and I couldnt stand the way he is otherwise. Somehow he found a way to make me hate his attitude even more after the series. How he was able to make a ref bleed and not get a tech was beyond me. Especially considering he ALREADY had a tech in the game. I dont care if it was an accident or not he was throwing a fit

"Disrespectfully addressing or contacting an official or gesturing in such a manner to indicate resentment" is a technical foul...I never have seen someone blatanlty hit and cut open the hand of a referee and get away with it...and with Silver in attendance...corruption at its worst

And he doesnt just complain. He does EVERY CALL and he literally throws and fit and usually cusses and sometime directly at the ref. Im not sure what the point of having a technical is. If they would have called even half of the deserving ones he would have been thrown our of at least 2 games.

To me the guy is an amazing player and backed up his smack talk on the court. I'd sign him in a heartbeat if he wanted to be a Blazer. He's just got a little Mohammed Ali in the heat of a series. RESPECT....I disrespect refs more than Draymond

Inadvertent contact with officials has never been grounds for a technical, let alone an ejection. I was more surprised he didn't get a technical after a late-game timeout when Green charged at a referee to argue an earlier call. Kerr and Walton got over there to calm Green down, but he definitely could have been teched-up for that. Rasheed Wallace would have!

This looked like an inadvertent contact. Not a big deal imho. At the end of the day, sure, Green complains a lot, but I do not find this too bad. There are worse things. The Anderson Varejao flop irked me a lot more last night.

Come on, that's not inadvertent contact. It's not like he ran into him while diving for a ball. He was punching at the air because he was upset about a call and he injured a ref. If sheed can get a tech for staring at a ref, I think Draymond should get a tech for making one bleed.

You're saying he intended to make contact with the referee? If you're saying he was being overly demonstrative, you could certainly make that argument, but the contact (in my opinion) was definitely inadvertent...he wasn't trying to strike the referee.

The histrionics alone deserved a tech, let alone he injured the ref in the process. But since they already t'd him once, he could have pulled out a gun and not been ejected from that game.

God I hate that guy.

Just an aside: There was one play he got called for the (legit) foul, but argued so hard, that soon after he got the obligatory gift makeup call. NBA is such bullshit.

Reading his lips, the shit he says to the opposing players is often T worthy. But nope: Green is for some reason untouchable. He's as protected as Lebron, if not more.

(2) Physically contacting an official
(3) Overt actions indicating resentment to a call
(4) Use of profanity

He slammed the ball down after a call, charged the ref....basically intimidated them all. The hit on Kenny 'The Fonz' Mauer seemed accidental but on replay it looked like he had plenty of time to see him and then didn't acknowledge that he had accidentally contacted the ref.

The guy BARKS at the refs and makes arm gestures after EVERY call. The problem is they let him get away with it all season and fell like they can't start calling it now, in the playoffs.

The last tech I got was for saying one word - seriously. Seriously, the word was seriously - after an exceptionally bad blown call. I said it with such sarcasm that one ref T'ed me up while the other ref nearly wet himself laughing.

I wasn't saying he shouldn't have gotten one, just that they probably interpreted it as accidental which is why they decided not to throw him out. If he didn't have one already, I'm wondering if they would have T'd him up. I've seen accidental contact before go uncalled. I just thought from the replay he saw him in time to avoid him or at least would have immediately reacted with an "I'm sorry" reaction.

The key term there that you didn't put in bold was "unsportsmanlike." Accidental contact is not considered unsportsmanlike. In the context of the opening clause, it's clear that (2) refers to intentional contact.

As for (3), sure, you can make that argument, but that's subjective. We have people pissed at Henderson getting a technical foul due to reacting to a missed officiating call and then laughing at Livingston being ejected when he was reacting to an even more blatant missed call. If the Livingston thing had happened to a Blazers player, no one would be laughing at the ejection...they'd be furious over the rigged nature of the NBA. In other words, fanbases aren't the best choices to determine judgment calls of their own or opposing team players.

Probably because he deserved it? I think most people just like to watch a game where the rules are enforced. That's what makes it an organized sport and not rec ball.
