NBA sources said the Washington Wizards had “light conversations” about sending center Brendan Haywood(notes) to the Portland Trail Blazers for guard Andre Miller(notes), but nothing is imminent. The transition of the Wizards’ ownership has complicated any changes the team is considering making to its roster. One NBA executive said Portland still hopes it can use Miller to net a center or small forward.

Oh no :(

This would be a good move, but I really would rather have Miller. Haywood is averaging nearly 10\10\2 though.

Guess this means Roy still doesn't want Miller long term! Blake it will be! I wont cry about it though. If it happens.

Yeah, let's dump the one guy who is healthy, playing well and helping the team win so the coach's pet with his single digit PER can get his starting job back.

Hmmm...sounds like an example of a GM letting another team know about a player that they'd "like" to trade for.

This trade would be an insult added to injury. Portland cannot afford to trade Miller right now. He is an iron man. Haywood has spent multiple seasons fighting injuries. What do you think is going to happen to him his first game in a Blazer uni this year?

i think theres zero percent chance of a deal including miller

quick just said yesterday... a blazer exec said theres no way we can trade miller.

blake wont be here next year. im telling ya.. miller will be a blazer 2 mores years

The phrasing suggests to me that the interest is on the Wizards' end or, at least, that they're the ones initiating the talks. I wouldn't mind acquiring Haywood as a stop-gap...but in return for someone like Outlaw or Blake. Not Miller.

doesnt even make sense for the wizards... miller has a year left... hes older on a team rebuilding like the wiz will be. i mean the wiz i would think would want youth or expiring deals this year. miller fits neither. only thing that works is the matching salaries.

lazy nba writer this smells like.

If it's been discussed and put out to the press, it's dead.

Dismissing Haywood for Miller: One of the hot rumors as of late yesterday afternoon was the possibility of the Portland Trail Blazers swapping Andre Miller for the Washington Wizards' Brendan Haywood to help them with their ailing center position. The Blazers have already lost Greg Oden and Joel Pryzbilla for the season and have buyer's remorse to a certain extent over their offseason signing of Miller.

However, according to Chris Tomasson's twitter account sources close to the situation expect Haywood to remain a Wizard throughout the rest of the season. Haywood, whose $6 million deal expires at the end of the year, is having one of the best seasons of his career with averages of 9 points and 10 rebounds. He'd be a nice short-term solution for the Blazers that could help them significantly in their playoff run while providing them with a mulligan of sorts for the Miller signing.

Miller's struggles as a Blazer are well documented but his track record makes him hard to give up on this early. Last night was one of his best games as a Blazer as he went off for 28 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists in a slight overtime loss to the Boston Celtics. He spent a lot of time playing alongside Jerryd Bayless and Steve Blake though, something that won't happen anywhere near as much once team leader Brandon Roy comes back from his hamstring injury. Their gluttony of guards in the backcourt makes the probability of them pulling off a deal very likely, but for now the Wizards don't have any interest in letting go of one of their few bright spots............

I actually think it speaks more in volumes about the way Bayless has played this season.
