Exclusive Drummond: THE thread

if he's bought out, I bet he ends up on the Lakers or Nets.

I'd only be okay with Drummond if he's cool with a role coming off the bench and picking up the dirty work Kanter leaves behind when he comes off the court. I think Drummond is still decently valuble as rebounder and we could use some consistency on the glass. anything more than that.. not interested.

Drummond makes just under $29,000,000. The only way that trade is happening is CJ unless you really start gutting your team and sending out multiple plays. Don't see it.

CJ n whoever except trent n dame.

im down for just anything to happen.....

Only plausible trade scenario is CJ for Drummond, and unless Dame is 100% behind it, I doubt it would make sense or work.

We need a backup. Giles ain't it. But Drummond is......... bad.

CJ for Drummond, this year's first (unprotected) and a couple of the massive amount of second round picks they have. I'm all for trading CJ... obviously but we have to get something really valuable in return and Drummond is not that, especially since we might be able to get him for the min if we just hold out. Cap space doesn't mean a lot to us because we don't really attract the kind of free agents that can be impact second options.

The only way it could happen is if there was a buyout and if that happened he could pretty much choose from all thirty teams. Why would he take Portland when they have one healthy center that they really like and another coming back in maybe 5 weeks? He is in his contract year so that would not be very smart.

I mean, he's better than Giles. If nurk was out the whole season and hes a backup on vet minimum? Maaaaybe? Probably still not, though. It seems like there's a lot of teams that go small with their backup bigs. Rather not have 2 lumbering ones as our options

Same. His game seems to have really deteriorated. He looked out of shape. Total non-factor.
He’s averaging 17.5/13.5 with about 2 blocks and a steal. He was pretty good when Cavs were winning earlier in the season.

Has he ever played a playoff game?

This absolutely screams national media person that isn't locked into Portland's situation. Oh a big man is available and Portland needs one! It makes no sense.

1) Drummond's contract alone makes this a non-starter.

2) If Olshey wanted a player like Drummond he would've just re-signed Whiteside in the off-season at 1/20th of the cost.

3) Kanter is better as both a backup if Nurk is healthy and as a starter in the meantime for this team.

If we're getting Drummond that means we're moving Nurkic.
Drummond as the replacement again doesn't make sense. We'd have to give up Nurk AND one of Hood/DJJ/RoCo AND at least one or more of Collins/Ant/Little plus still be under the tax enough to sign at least 2 players (or more if we gave up more than 3 in the deal). Super unrealistic.

I'd be okay with Drummond if we could transplant Kanter's offensive ability into him. You still have a lumbering center who can't switch, but at least now you have a pretty good rim protector and one-on-one defender (against bigs), who can actually score.

Drummond is basically an inverse of Kanter...both are rebounding monsters, Kanter is a defensive zero, Drummond is an offensive zero. But Drummond is paid like a guy who can do both, Kanter isn't.
