Exclusive Drummond: THE thread

He’s averaging 17.5/13.5 with about 2 blocks and a steal. He was pretty good when Cavs were winning earlier in the season.

And against the Blazers a few days ago he looked to have slightly better mobility than the Lincoln Memorial. He's always put up good numbers that seemed empty. Now they seem emptier.

I can't imagine why any team would trade for him. He's a buyout waiting to happen.

Once that happens, though, yeah, I'd definitely look at getting him for a vet min if he were willing to take it.

And if I were Drummond I'd seriously consider Portland. A lot of centers (Nurk, Kanter, Plumlee, Meyers to name a few) have really spruced up their careers by setting screens for Dame. Whiteside is pretty much the only one I can think of where it was a completely lateral move to play in Portland.

I guess if you wanted to clear some cap space?

Honestly, if I'm Boston, I'd trade Kemba for him. Kemba has been a massive bust.

Is Drummond even a good defensive player? Or is he a good defensive player in the same way that Hassan Whiteside was?

50% true shooting as a center. Ugh. That's even worse than Nurk.

Definitely the comparable to Whiteside part. He's a little more mobile than Whiteside but Whiteside's a much better finisher.

This doesn't make any sense. Nurkic isn't dead or even lost for the season. We have a great backup once Nurkic is back - why would we be looking to acquire a center who is paid more than our two current centers combined?

Watch that clip I posted. He's fucking horrible.

Yeah I saw that before. But I haven't watched enough of him to say for sure, and you can make vid to make almost anyone look bad.

The offensive numbers are horrendous though. I don't doubt that he's awful on offense.

Drummond's defensive ratings suggest that he's a solid defensive player, but not an exceptional one. I'd say he's a superior defensive player to Whiteside, but he's not an elite anchor or anything like that.

A huge negative on the offensive end, though.

It's not just a highlight vid. It goes into some very specific stats.

Is that why his career PER is 22? Pretty sure thats much higher then anyone on Portland other then Dame.

It's being reported that his attitude has been less then stellar this season. I don't know as I'm just a fan, but it might have something to do with Detroit and Cleveland being two of the biggest shit holes in the country and those teams being talentless losers. Guessing he's wanted out since he was traded there and the addition of Allen has only exasperated that. No he's not a great option to clear out a side for. Neither is Gobert, but somehow Utah has the best record in the league. Surrounded by shooters, he'd be a rough cover to keep off the offensive boards and cleaning up misses. He's a better athlete and defender then any Blazer Big since forever. As opposed to the Blazer Bigs, he's been a picture of health for most of his career. As someone else mentioned, it would take Lillard signing off on it as I don't know what he'd bring personality wise but NO has made plenty of other moves I've had more issues with then if he were to add Andre. I'd be pretty psyched actually.

PER doesn't mean shit, Hassan had a 25 PER last year here and third in the league among centers. Leave this chemistry killer out of Portland.

PER means a whole lot more then some edited video. Heck, the right clips from my highlight tape would make me look like a real player. Again I'm not vouching for his personality as I don't pretend to know what I don't but is it somehow a bad thing to lead the league in rebounding year after year? How about averaging 1.5 blocks & steals? I've watched Andre a lot and one on one offense isn't his forte but defense and wrecking shop on the boards is. He's quick as a cat and pretty sure he'd fit in well here... pretty sure he'd appreciate playing with the best talent he's been with by far too.

I would definitely be interested in signing him to a pro-rated vet min, assuming he is waived and goes through waivers.

OT:
I cannot say the same about Blake Griffin.
