Herbert’s the real deal. As a Beaver fan I haven’t been this pissed about the Ducks QB since Mariota.

He got a Rocket Arm and should have taken just a bit off of some of his shorter throws.
There were a couple beautiful throws right on target that were dropped.
Im hoping he comes back for senior year! Because that would be one great team.

I realize how hard it is, but I’m starting to think I may have to just always cheer for pac 12 schools whenever they play against outside the conference. The conference has been a drift the last couple years. If the conference gets no respect in order to get into the CFP we have almost no margin for error.

I have always done that. Against my Oregon teams, I root for all Pac 12 teams to die. But, out of conference, I want them to win every game possible.

Washington and USC have always been I cheer for them to go winless teams.
I cheer for Oregon State to be good, because I love it when the civil war means something for both teams.
Yesterday was the closest I have come to cheering for the huskies to win.

To tell the truth, USC was the hardest one for me. It was easier when my friend, Troy P, was going to school there. But, anything that helps the conference, helps the Oregon teams.

I will never, ever cheer for the Ducks. That's a 100% guarantee.

I just re watched the game just to count.........all the "drops". You were right there were only 4.

After the first two drops in the first series of the game, one by JJ and one by Redd, there were only two more drops.......the whole game. One more by JJ (also in the 1st quarter) and one more by Redd at the very end of the 3rd quarter. That was it for drops.

So for the whole game, only 2 players dropped passes on Saturday. And both of them redeemed them selves with excellent TD catches.

I get it. First Duck-Husky game I ever went to was in 1977 in Eugene. I had breakfast next to some rich couple decked out in purple. Most cocky-arrogant people I had ever met. From that moment on I truly understood what the hate between the two schools was all about, and have never stopped hating them since. I don't care who the fuck they are playing, I will root for the other team. Even the Beavers or Trojans.

I will not ever even think about putting on purple clothing. (UW and Lakers)

Oregon has one super rich donor and is home to very few large businesses. Washington is home to Starbucks, Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing, has a much bigger tech scene with triple AAA video game companies like ArenaNET and Bungie, in fact they just literally had PAX west. Seattle metro has 3.7m people, Portland metro has 2.4 (and Eugene is a small college town that's hours away). I've been too Seattle quite a few times for work and yes, Washington definitely considers Portland / Oregon to be their 'little' brother. Rich(?) well I don't know, Cocky? Yeah definitely. Huskies have way more in common with the Lakers than Oregon, every time the Ducks do anything good Washington fans remind us they used to be good, that's kind of how it works for the Lakers isn't it? Except they have like 17 championships to Washingtons 2.

The ducks literally have one big donor, and other schools act like they shouldn't accept his money, it's funny. Almost every large school has million of dollars poured into it from donors and the ducks get a bad rap because most of there donations comes from one guy, why is that? Do you think the Huskies don't have donors...?

I will agree that Oregon fans became pretty entitled after that Chip Kelly era, but we finally tasted what it was like to win a little and we wanted more.

Oregon has one huge donor in a small town, in a small state. Washington is surrounded by huge businesses in the middle of the 15th biggest city in the country, with a history of winning, now which one of those sounds more like the Lakers...

The "one huge donor" is more impactful and meaningful for athletes than any of UWs donors. Phil Knight is as impactful to their recruiting as any one head coach. The "never wear the same thing twice" crap just screams rich and entitled. Phil Knight utilizes his business operations to advance Oregon in the college sports world, just like the Lakers utilize their market to advance their roster. I can't think of a comparable example for the Phil Knight-Oregon comnection in regards to college football. With Phil Knight, Washington would be the best team in the country. Laker fans also have a sense of entitlement, much like Oregon fans have had for years. I continuously see Oregon fans acting entitled to recruits because of their Nike connections and the "world class" facilities it's given them.

Meanwhile, Portlanders continue to have this silly little grudge against Seattle because of stereotypical viewpoints based off a couple experiences. When you believe in stereotypes, it's much easier to biasedly use an outlier to confirm them than to change your thinking.

This leads to people being ridiculous and attributing a whole mindset to an entire state consisting of millions of people. Y'all apply it to Californians as well: "They look down upon us" along with the contradicting "Too many of them move up here"... you realize how different Spokane is from Vancouver and from Seattle? C'mon man.

It's easy to find a comparable situation. T. Boones Pickens has donated a whole heck of a lot of money to Oklahoma State. Notre Dame and Texas have way more TV money than everyone else...
It's hilarious to read your post about stereotypes, while you paint pomanders with a broad brush, "pot meet kettle".
I realize that every town, heck every person is different, but stereotypes exist most of the time because of at least some partial truth to them. Washington is a fine state and most Oregon fans don't really care about the Cougars or have the same 'stereotypes' towards them so we aren't painting an entire state.

How old are you? I am guessing not old enough to remember how arrogant UW fans were in the 70's and 80's.
And in terms of money, do you not know your history of donations over the last 70 years?

But my point was never to infer that some Ducks fans are not arrogant. Of course we have some. Almost every fucking fan base in the history of sports has annoying condescending fans. (See Beaver basketball fan of the the late 70's-80's)
I was just telling the story of my encounter with the UW fans who would caravan down from Seattle in that era ,and why I hate them. I get that you have your reasons for hating Ducks fans.......and I am perfectly fine with that. The hate goes both ways.
But don't pretend your fan base is any better. This is sports and all fan bases are annoying.

Oklahoma state is a school, with one billionaire donor that gives a lot of money to the school that was the comparison.
Saying Washington is a 'fine' state, is a generalization I guess.
The fact that's the only response you have makes me feel pretty confident about this conversation heh.

As an Oregon fan (who isn't old enough to remember the 80's) I can say that when it comes to Oregon football I try to keep it from like 2007 - 2015 that's about all I have heh.

I think its more the rivalries of the past in many sports. And honestly, I think its both ways.
The donation thing may play a factor in some of it but both schools have their strengths when it comes to ability to attract students and athletes.
Seattle is a large city with lots of advantages, Eugene is a small town.
Phil has been a supporter for years even the losing years when the dawgs were winning and boy were they on their high horse.
The battle's in Seattle caused much of the bad feelings as well. Timbers, Sounders, ext.
Whine comes to money know way the State of ORE matches up with Seattle alone, Nittendo saved the mariners, Paul saved the Sea chickens and Sounders.
The one thing they both have in common though is a real progressiveness and a lack of tolerance.

Seattle is much more similar to Portland than LA. You can't compare 3 to 9 to seperate it from its close relation with 2.

Tech seen? Lmao. Arbitrary comparisons since yuh have no real argument.

I provided my reasoning. No reason to post to someone that won't thoroughly read.
