Hawkins is the backup now but Bennett has to be ready as the emergency guy

Yeah they're definitely not going to want to play Bennett this late in the season.

While I generally agree if it comes down to it.. And Bennett is THAT much better than Hawkins as some reports suggest... Then burning a redsshirt to stay in the national title race seems like as good of reason as any. Lets just hope we are far enough ahead if/when we have to go to a backup that it won't matter.
 
That first 2.5 quarters, up until it was 18-13, hurt my heart. I don't know if I can stand watching a close game!

no question you play Bennett if you feel he gives you the best option to win.

This season >>> preserving BB's 4 years of eligibility. That they've two good QB prospects in the next class only helps this

agreed. I would def love to save a red shirt, but Winning a championship trumps that def. But as I said.. lets hope the only time we need a backup is in blowouts in the 2nd half, lets stay in the race AND preserve a redshirt :cheers:
 
Hell, depending how the games go, we might be able to get him some decent snaps at the end of our last three games.
