Politics Duds announcement run for Governor

They are absolute fucking morons and hate filled pieces of shit so its not surprising.
While them voting for Trump has definitely negatively impacted my opinion of them they are generally good and caring people.

And they are heavily involved in womens and girls sports.

A lot of people voted for Bush II because they feared the awful terrible catastrophic things that would happen if same sex couples married. The fact that candidates pander to prejudice doesn't make the prejudice rational.
These are not the same arguments though. There was never any evidence to support those claims.

All available evidence suggests that over 99% of those assigned male at birth have physical and athletic advantages over those assigned female at birth.

Supporting the rights of those assigned female at birth to participate in leagues for only those assigned female at birth is logical.

Trying to prevent two consenting adults from being in a relationship is not logical.

It depends. If someone can say they disagree with some of the stuff happening i give them some leeway. If someone literally agrees and defends everything that happens and can't be reasoned with on how some of the policies are hurting people they know and supposedly care for. Then fuck em.

Agreed

Saw Duds on the TV tonight. He looks like shit. Like he spent the last 15 years doing meth and sleeping on the street.

I do see a path for him to win, but only via forfeit. Sometimes candidates do get lucky that way.

Keeping males out of female sports is such a non issue it's kinda weird to think that's a difference maker.

I hope whoever runs for governor has far more pressing issues that they worry about.

I've spoken to A LOT of Trump voters who said that was the deciding factor for them.
Might be a non issue to you. But it's a major issue to many.

It's one that the general public clearly sides with Republican position on. Even Democrat voters too. It's rare to have an issue like that which a party can hammer on in both primaries and general election.

I don't think there is a moral or constitutional solution that Republicans and moderates would like.

Basically, I think the only way he could get more of these votes than he'd already get by being a Republican would be to demonize the homeless the way Trump has immigrants.
Yes I think Dudley could do that to secure the primary and rally Republican support.

But the issue would be how to increase his votes in the general election. Demonizing homeless would probably have the opposite impact there.

What Trump did for national support is pretty different than what Dudley would need to do for broad Oregon support.

Yeah I think people need to stop with the "they" and "them" labels as well as demonized individuals who voted for Trump. If anything it just shows what a liberal eco chamber some people live in themselves. Reminds me of other countries that demonize or promote their ethnicity/religion over others.

Extreme liberals or extreme conservatives that demonize the other side and only vote 100% for their party are the fringe outliers that really have no bearing on elections. The pull candidates get from centrists determine the outcome.

Agreed - and this simplicity is an easy message for Republicans to hammer. It even has support on the majority of Democrat voters.

There are very few issues that have such broad support from both parties voters - yet has one party often taking stands against.

If you dislike demonizing some people as they and them different from us, perhaps stop doing it to trans people.

I think people say it is a non issue and used as a boogeyman right now because there are less than 10 athletes out of over 500k that are Trans competing at the college level.

People grasp onto one glorified story and act like its sone major issue across the globe.

Yep.

It's the textbook definition of a non issue/boogeyman.

For those who aren't good at math, that's .002%

That means out of every 1000 people there would be 2 people.
Anyone who acts like this is a real issue is lying to themselves about what they really want, or is just willfully ignorant of reality.

Its a major issue because many voters believe its a major issue and do change their votes because of it.

Doesn't matter the amounts of people that you believe are impacted. To people that have involvement with girls in sports it is a major issue to them.

Same argument some say on climate change - it doesn't have a proven impact so why do people care. But if people want to vote one way or another on climate change it does become an important issue, regardless of someone else's opinion of how irrelevant it may be.

Its not how many people I believe. That is literally what the NCAA testified in court in December 2024.

Here is the link if you want to read.

If someone considers this a major issue when it is such a small number, idk what to tell you.

Should it have a discussion? Yes. Should it be a deciding factor in someone's vote over things like Healthcare or 🧊....no.

It is a boogeyman the right consistenly uses to scare people.

You're not wrong, except you may wanna check that math.

As a moderate who leans liberal, I'll trot my ignorance out for all to see......why not just have transgender leagues and call it good??. That way there is something for everyone and no one can complain. Those who were assigned as male at birth and then transition have a physical advantage over those who were assigned female at birth. I don't see how that can be argued (all the steroids or whatever be damned). And those who were assigned female at birth are at a physical disadvantage to those who were assigned male at birth. Just seems like common sense to me. But then, I'm just a Boomer.......

I will be the first to admit it is a very complex and complicated issue. And that's a huge part of the problem. The vast majority of Americans truly cannot wrap their heads around it. Some don't want to, and others (like me) make an effort to inform ourselves and end up far more confused than when we started. All the shit going on in this country, I have an almost impossible time worrying about who gets to play what sports. I'm more worried about who gets to breathe....or live free.....or eat.....simple basic shit like that.

It is definitely true that some people have fucked up priorities, and other people just can't make correct decisions about the relative importance of issues, and some people believe outrageous lies.

There is a solution, though. It involves the sun going supernova.

Trans people could complain. They would feel segregated and robbed of their rights. It is a very complex situation that has gone from kicking them out of sports to trying to stop their existence. So, yeah being allowed to compete in a trans or general neutral league is probably better then being told they aren't allowed to exist. And, I totally get girls and their parents feeling like it's unfair competition. But, it's a far shittier hand dealt for trans people.

Because it segregated trans people and further stigmatizes. Because there won't be anything like the same number of teams and sports. Because it is separate and very unequal. Because contrary to myth trans people and teams with trans members have not unfairly dominated sports. Because tall strong cis women and girls are already being subjected to demeaning demands they prove they are "real".

I don't think so. When I talk to people around Portland they seem a lot closer to MAGA on homelessness than I would expect.

How many people are in each of those people's leagues?

Because that's how many people are impacted if somebody who they believe shouldn't be in that league is allowed in that league.

That's how the vote is impacted.

Right, its all the teammates and opponents that it impacts. Not just the one single trans athlete.

Nobody is stopping a group from creating a trans league. There is no demand for one or else there would be one.
