Nice article Dumpy.

This is the first year we've ever seen Thorn admit that he's "rebuilding," so maybe we shouldn't rule out younger players so fast. I still think the "major conference/European club" theory holds though, unless it's an overwhelming talent the way Sean Williams was.
 
Good read, Dumpy. I like Budinger, and I think if he somehow falls to us we should pick him up right away. If we somehow get a chance to draft Batum, that would be incredible. His wingspan is gigantic, he's super athletic and has some serious talent and potential.
 
It was a good post, and a great article! While Budinger fits the mold, I'm worried about his transition to the NBA. He'll have to bulk up a bit so that his cutting game is more effective; right now he looks wire-thin.

Well, he's on a contract for next year. But he hasn't really done much in the NBA so far - not that he's been given a chance.

There's nothing wrong with having insurance, though. Especially with our injury-prone starting wing players.

Personally, I'd much rather get a wing. A point guard as well, but that should be 2nd on our list of needs.

IMO we shouldn't even think about getting another big unless Diop finds a bigger contract somewhere else.

Chase Budinger is overrated, and at best will be solid. maybe, slim chance, but maybe Nicolas Batum slips a litlte as the draft process goes on.
 
The Nets liked Ager in 2006. He was on their short list at shooting guard. Stefanski said publicly that Ager had "a very good workout for us." Donnie Nelson liked Ager in 2006...and 2007. He called Josh Howard, Harris, Diop and Ager "the cornerstone of the franchise's future" last September when the Mavs signed Harris. Avery Johnson did not like Ager.

Unless he becomes part of another trade over the summer--which is indeed possible--I expect he will get another shot in training camp...much like Nachbar did in 2006.

True... I forgot that Boki did nothing the year he was traded here, and then blew up the next year. Maybe the same will come from Ager.
 
nice article dumpy! and thanks to netincome who can collect all sorts of useful info on the nets from all kinds of sources...

it is almost sure that the nets will have a shot at players like budinger and batum, both of whom can help the nets at the wing position, but what of the mavs pick? i'm guessing the undersized but very good point guards in the coming draft have a good chance of falling...do we take them with the mavs pick or take a marginally good big man or shooter? i'd rather take the very good pg over any marginally good wing or big man...

ty lawson (5'11") - one man fastbreak; fastest player in college
darren collison (6'1") - very good on-ball defender and spot-up shooter

darren collison has a very good chance of falling and can fill darrell armstrong's role plus his long-range shooting can address a nets need...

Great work Dumpy and NI. I don't follow much college basketball aside from IU (Eric Gordon would be awesome but that's just a pipedream). But a friend of mine thinks I look like Buddinger when I don't shave or comb my hair.
 
lol eric gordon is solid... but remeber hes an undersized 2 at 6'4" but he weighs like 240lbs... a bit heavy
thats the weight that lebron came into the league in... but hes also 4 inches taller.
gordon reminds me sort of like baron davis... like a BIG PG, SMALL SG, but can take the beating
 
Another guy the Nets should think about if he comes out is Stephen Curry, son of sweet shooting Del Curry. He's a little undersized at 6 '3, but the guy can stroke it. I'm watching him play vs. Gonzaga. He also plays nice D and averages 2 steals a game. He could be an Eddie House instant offense type of player.

reading scouting reports, talking to people who have watch him alot and looking at highlights.

very mobile very fast moving north and south and East and West

long and quick feet so he'll be able to gaurd players in the perimeter

has the quick feet and leaping ability to get blocks (kinda like Josh Smith, won't be as good)

decent three point shooter, he needs to fix his mechanics tho

good passer, and moves without the ball

Oooh I see. I'll have to check out those highlights sooner or later.

The last highlights from an international player I've seen was from Spanish Chocolate (aka Sergio Rodriquez).
