Dwight Howard

Footwork not good.

Way overated post game and one of the worst passers out of a double team ever.

Can't have him in an important game in the last 5 minutes because he can't make free throws.

Emotionally barely above Meyers Leonard.

No thanks.

It's a good thing cause there are many other teams that still love him. I think it's a good opportunity for us to hop on the Howard sweepstakes and get a player for cheap!

There is nothing wrong with Noah other then he looks and acts funky. You of all people Wookee should know how that feels :)
His dad was a petulant little scumbag, and Joakim's a douchebag. Heck of a player, don't want him on my team.

And yes, lol, I know how that feels, but still...

I like our chances at grabbing Gasol off amnesty better than convincing Dwight to come here. What are the rules on claims of amnestied players? Do we get any priority for being under the cap?

Olshey succeeded in bidding for Chauncey a few years ago, so he must know the rules.

Teams under the cap are the only ones allowed to bid.

Nice. And I'm guessing we have to stay under the cap even after our offer?

for example... say we get through our other FA signings/trades/etc and end up 2 mil under the cap? Are we only allowed upto bid 2mil?

Also, are only one year offers considered in the bidding? Does a 2year/4mil offer trump a 1yr, 3mil offer?

Don't know on #1

#2 is correct I believe.

#3 we bid for whatever is left (in years) on the contract.

Man, I wish I had enough time to read up on this. I don't even have the time (or patience) to read what I have to for work. But we seriously need to keep this amnesty option open. I see a few candidates that we could really use.

Just a few off the top of my mind: Deng/Boozer/Gasol/Gooden/Bargnani

Really hoping some of these guys are amnestied. We'd get some much needed depth if we win a bid.

I would prefer Brook Lopez - I can see him as a Blazer.

Three-way trade with Brooklyn and Los Angeles.

Why wouldn't LA want Lopez?

The three way trade that makes the most sense is Love to LA, Lopez to Minnesota, Dwight to Brooklyn

Maybe that Dwight Howard took that shitty ass team to the finals. At least that was my first thought.

Those were the perfect teammates for him. They made HIM look good. This year's Lakers, not so much.

I would love Pau on the Blazers by the way.

LA fans hate him now, the choice is clear, sign in Portland so they will really hate you.

It would be a waste to sign him for a 4 year 88-90 million contract (max by NBA).

You know the dumb thing about Howard is that PDX would be right thing and smart move money aside. But this is NBA and this is the real world and C.R.E.A.M.

I cant say that I wouldnt want the most money I could get but at the same time how many NBA players if you offered an NBA championship to them right now for say $1-$5 million depending on their contract wouldnt do it?

If Dwight was really about winning, he'd sign with the Heat for league min

I don't see the Lakers using their amnesty on Gasol. He is about their only player that has some trade value.

Agreed. I guess my point was that if he wanted to also repair his reputation but still be a major factor in the process of being a title contender then a place like PDX could be a good fit. Never gonna happen it just one of those things that looks good on paper and makes too much sense to make sense

He is a definite top 5 center in the league and still a superstar. He was misused in Los Angeles. If they had Phil Jackson, many would change their tune.

I would most definitely give him max if he was interested in coming to Portland.

You know for as much crap as people gave LBJ about "The Decision" did he not take less money for the opportunity for the 3 players to all sign together or was it just the other two? I just dont see Howard making this kind of sacrifice.

Yeah, Howard just seems me first, big market guy. I wonder if Houston is big enough for him?
