I love how Olshey is straight forward. I mean he said he may keep the 14th roster spot open because it gives him flexibility. He also said he is really pleased with the roster. And he wasn't afraid to talk about having "tradable assets" to really go after a player if they are available.

That's what I like to hear!

Yeah it's really refreshing to know that if a possibility comes up, our GM isn't afraid to pull the trigger. I have a lot of faith in Neil to make the right call, even if it involves trading a huge asset in process. I don't think Cho, Buccannin would do that.

I watched the game late last night and I thought myers looked like he was in the right position a lot more than last year. example: when Teague went up for a layup and kicked him in the balls

I just re-watching the game from last night and Im about 1 qtr into the game and so far he really has been in the right position almost every time. I also noticed him changing two shots by going straight up. So there is improvement there but its hard to see unless you are specifically looking for it.

I think some of the frustration people have watching Leonard is he is trying to play D and contest shots and NOT foul. That was an issue with him last year and he has been working on that this year. That effort is showing up in situations where it looks like he should have contested a shot better, but instead tried to effect the shooter and not foul. While that is very frustrating to watch, it is part of development. If he keeps working on it, and actually develops that ability, the shot blocks/defense will improve and the fouls will be avoided.

I agree, im just surprised because I was following peoples comments on here the game thread and people were just bashing on him for not making any strides. some need to take a closer look

I think that point of view says more about Stotts as a coach than I could ever say.

Remember when LaMonster showed up out of nowhere 30 or so games into the season? LaMarcus worked all summer on his post game, but it wasn't really apparent that it had paid off until well into the season. Any work that Meyers does in the off season will take time to become part of his game on an every game basis. He's a 3-5 year project, so bashing on him now is enormously douchey.

I quit watching Summer League games. I saw enough of McCollum to know that he has some skill and could be a good player for the Blazers. There are so many fouls called and such bad basketball you just can't tell with the other players on the team.

i think that may also have a lot to do with the fact that Olshey really doesnt seem to put up with crap like that and Dwight knows better than to be the douche he can normally be for fear of getting shut out completely

I agree that many posters here are way too hard on Leonard. I'm not disappointed in Leonard because I expect him to be a project. If he still 'sucks' in two years, then I will be disappointed. I think he has a lot of potential.

I've watched the games after reading the game threads and for the most part, I haven't thought he was as bad as the criticism of him. Last night was probably his best game, IMO, even though he didn't get many rebounds. Several times he just deferred rebounds to teammates. That and other things show he really doesn't have a rebounder's mentality. He needs to work on that, for sure.

I saw this several times to. LA does this frequently as well, which cuts into his rebounding numbers. Leonard boxes out fairy well, preventing his man from getting the board and allowing TRob to pull one down.

Personally, I would prefere him to be the aggressor and fight for that rebound, but thats just not him......for now at least.

It sure looked like NO made moves this summer that (on paper) increased the talent level of the team and at the same time increased his trade assets and his flexibility - lots of moveable parts and no long-term salary commitments.

He could have gone after players that were bigger "names" and potentially more talent/impact, but a large contract for a vet that has an off season makes them hard to move. Flexibility seems to be why NO didn't go after an Asik trade, or sign guys like Mayo or Kaman.

Yep and looking at the contracts; we have a shit ton coming off the books in 2 years. 15.8 mil is guaranteed in the 2015/16 season. We will have a lot of expirings and a lot of young talent.
