Honestly, I don’t know if this would do any good or not. But Rick Adelman doesn’t leave the officials alone. Ever. Never has. Either does Gregg Popovich or Doc Rivers or Phil Jackson. I’ve covered coaches from both extremes — Adelman, Jack Ramsay and Mike Dunleavy never stopped yapping at them. Mike Schuler, P.J. Carlesimo and now Nate McMillan never said much to them. My thought is this: If it seems as if the other team is getting all the calls, yet they’re on the refs all the time — you better go get your saddle and mount up. You better start riding them, too. It seems every time there’s a cheap foul on Oden, the camera shifts to McMillan, who is just sitting there on the bench without a peep. At some point, I think he probably ought to take a technical foul.

Not much more to say there. You've got Adelman, Dr. Jack and Dunleavy on one extreme and Schuler, Carlesimo and McMillan on the other.

I don't have to tell any of you which group has had more playoff success.

Preach it Fat Man!!!!!!!!!

I love it. Too bad he didn't ask Nate directly and call him out in front of everyone.

Wow he just sobered up and noticed this? Been bitching about this all year. You have to work on the refs all the time to keep them conditioned. Phil Jackson works them all the time, even taking fines, because he knows the more public he makes his statement, the more attention the referee's get for making bad calls, and the scrutiny brings them back in line with how he wants the game called. It's that simple.

Actually, Dwight has been the only local media type to actually call out McDumbass all year

And Dwight has been one of the few idiots all year.

Wow, what a travesty that it's come down to which coach can complain most effectively to get the calls....and ultimately the wins?

Please.

Maybe not the wins. But it all adds up, and when the games are close, a point might cost you. But the facts are whiners are getting the calls. So if you can't beat them, join them. It's kind of like being beat up by a kid at school and not fighting back. You can continue to get beat up every day and not fight back, or you can put a stop to it. Which one are you?

I'll always maintain that (poor) officiating doesn't cost "series". Playoff refs have proven to be the best of the bunch. Also, the Blazers have been in "position" to win the last two games. These losses have been on them......not the refs.

Hmmm....Mr. Complainer, Rick Adelman, was coach of whom?

To me, it still boils down to play on the court.

yea it boils down to the play on the court but a free here, a foul on yao there, all adds up and helps you to win in the end. i don't blame the refs for the last two loses but a couple more fouls and both those games could have gone the other way.

He doesn't complain near as much as Phil, because you have to admit, how many times have you seen Adelman get on to TV and complain to the press, and take a fine? He will complain in the game and get a tech, but he won't call attention to it in the press. Do you not admit there are two levels of "Whiner" here?

In my book the 3 coaches that handle the refs the best are:

1. Phil Jackson.
2. Pat Riley
3. Greg Popovich.

All of them will call the refs out in the press, take a fine for the team, and get the whistle work for you more.

And you will always be wrong.

No one wants coaches and players bitching at the refs all game. But that is what has to be done. Remember when Nate said Roy needed to "sell" his fouls better. He started yelling when he thought he got fouled. And it worked like a charm. I would say Roy's yelling has won the Blazers a few games this season they would have lost otherwise.

Apparently in the NBA you need to lobby the refs to get calls to go your way, rules be dammed. Having a star player helps as well. Having both, like Houston, gives you a huge advantage. It doesn't assure victory, but it sure as hell gives you a leg up on the other team.

Fucking pathetic. No Balls Association indeed.

Sorry, but I'm in shock that you wrote this. Are you not aware of the Donaghy Scandal? Most of the bets he placed, were based on his knowledge of the relationships of the refs to the star players of the teams, not on games he had influence in.

The bias is STATISTICALLY significant, in fact you can make $$ based on the knowledge, and Vegas gamblers are doing just that, as we speak. That's the scary truth which was documented that the NBA prefer you forget. Apparently, it worked on you.

Read the rest of the post, I wasn't talking about crooked officiating. I was talking about biased officiating.

Sorry to break it to ya, but there's no bias against the Blazers.

You're blind then. It was just reported on the game that the Blazers today sent off video to the league office showing the "inconsistency" being applied to the two teams in this series. Clearly we on this board are not the only ones who think we're getting screwed.

I simply said there was no "bias". Why would there be? Is this some kind of conspiracy?

OK, then, bias would necessitate intent. Care to venture any guesses as to what the refs might have against the Blazers?

Probably nothing.

It's nothing personal.

They are paid an enormous amount of money to do exactly what they are doing.

BTW, one of the things on my "to-do" list when we get out there is to drive up to beautiful Central Oregon and buy you a beer, sir....perhaps at the Decoy?

I don't think there is a bias, but it does seem that we're getting more "cheap" calls called against us. I'm not blaming the refs for losing, because we did a good enough job of throwing the game away ourselves. But it does change the course of the game when we've got Pryz and Oden riding the pine and we're forced to stick LMA at C or even worse, Frye.

The inference was poor officiating.....not crooked.

We really don't know if this is true or not, do we? Is it possible that "donnlyism" is still going on? Maybe, maybe not. Just saying.:dunno::ohno:

My question would be, why then?

You're on, but I think it's customary for the host to buy.
