Yep. I've made a lot of money, and I've paid a lot into my unemployment fund. I've never had to tap into it until this year. There is no need for me to take an entry-level job that pays less than my weekly unemployment check. If things don't pick up here in Oregon, we're likely out of here within a year anyhow.

Well that goes back to the statement before. When you lose your job and get unemployment, you are given so much enemployment per week. If you work a job that pays less than your enemployment, they take it out of your unemployment and just augment your income to bring it up to the unemployment level, for as long as your unemployment lasts. So why should anybody go take a job that pays less than their unemployment, if the amount of compensation they receive is going to be the same, if they work or not? They don't. It's a no brainer.

Secondly the amount you make at your previous job affects your future unemployment claims. If you work a poor paying job then when unemployment comes up again at some point you may not receive the same amount of compensation, in fact, much less since it was based on your pay. Why would anybody want to do that?

Lastly, the jobs at Columbia have a wide variety of range. They range all the way from Warehouse work, to executives. These may be average jobs. Many of them are not. That is up to whoever applies to decide.

its pathetic! go look threw the want adds or go apply at burger king instead of begging for a job online. He could find a job easily. He just won;t work a shitty job.

Man I've even applied to jobs like that at BK, MCdonalds, safeway, etc. and I cant get a call back even. IT REALLY SUCKS, no one wants to hire, my record is clean and everything. And without a job, I'm gonna be so fucked come september since I still don't have enuff cash for my first fall term in college! It really is so hard to find a job now..
