Remember all those Sergio to Rudy alley-oops last year? It seemed like there was at least one of them a game. Not only were they entertaining, easy points, they also kept Rudy's defenders honest, or he would go back door on them.

This season, you hardly ever see this play. Now, obviously, Sergio and Rudy had solid chemistry. But is it that hard for Miller or Blake to do the same? Blake has played with Rudy for a while now. And check out this excerpt from a recent Andre Miller article:
In fact, poll any NBA observer over the last two decades, and they'd likely confirm the notion that Andre Miller — above such stalwarts like John Stockton, Jason Kidd(notes) and Steve Nash(notes) — is probably the best lob passer of his era. Nobody throws a rim-high spiral like this guy.

Maybe Nate could call this play more. Or maybe we should lock Miller and Rudy in a room with nothing more than Sergio to Rudy highlights. It just seems crazy to have the supposed best lob passer and a alley-ooper like Rudy on the same team and not use this weapon.

Ummm...the reason you don't see Sergio to Rudy is because Sergio is no longer here. :devilwink:

But, hmmm...I seem to notice Miller throwing these pretty regularly...maybe I'm misremembering...

I think you'll see it happen more as the season progresses. Miller and Rudy haven't spent much time on the floor together and Rudy has been hampered by a bad back, something that has an effect on ability to lift off the ground.

I think both posts above me responded accurately. I recall seeing miller throw some up, and Blake surprisingly as well.

I agree. Rudy and Andre just haven't spent enough time together yet. I have no doubt we'll see plenty of them by the end of the year. And as mentioned, Blake seems to have picked up a bit of this habit from Andre, which is nice to see.

Batum moves well without the Ball, I would not be surprised to start seeing some Miller-Batum lobs soon.

Nice thread!

There were some nice oops tonight. I see a lot of Miller to Nico, Miller to Rudy and Rudy to Nico in our future!

I seem to recall a Miller to Aldridge and Rudy to Aldridge as well tonight.

Martel can sky too. Martell, Rudy and Nico have all had some monster put backs in the last week.

Gotta love it!

Nate must have read this thread today! The one to Rudy was what I am talking about!

Maybe there haven't been too many Miller to Rudy...but then again Rudy has been out. But, I think Miller has consistently been making these passes to other players.
