LaMarcus returns in 8 days, I wonder if Ed Davis is expecting the fans to "respect" LA. What are you guys expecting?

I think I would rather hear cheers than boo's. If you are happy with the team right now, and like where we are at, but hate Aldridge - Are you going to Cheer or Boo? I don't want to hear the entire arena boo him when his name is announced, but thankfully I don't think that will happen.

Personally I'd clap for LA, but I'd cheer loudly for the win.

The vindictive devil in me says I'd like to see all 20,000 people in the stands turn around, drop their pants and moon LA when he's introduced.

But, in reality, yeah a golf clap sounds good.

I'd love the Blazers to hype LA's return like Minny did with Kevin Love in this vid:

That was great. The pregnant pause was too long, but still very good.

I'd like to see no reaction whatsoever. He quit before last years playoffs and we quit caring about him months ago too.

He always was a guy that had little reaction among fans positive or negative while here. He came here because it was his job and showed no passion for the city so there was no excitement. He was productive at times which was good to root for as a member of our team. But he had childish annoying qualities too.

I don't despise him as I do some former players. But I certainly won't cheer loudly nor root for him today as I do with Wes Matthews.

I wouldn't blame anyone for not cheering. It's kinda like that old saying "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"

If I were there I'd cheer him. He gave us 9 years and was our best player for most of that time.

So he left to be closer to family. So a guy from Texas didn't fall in love with the city of Portland. So a guy had insecurities - hardly makes him the devil...

For the franchise, he played the 4th most games, the third most minutes, had the 2nd most Field goals, third most Free Throws, 1st all time in rebounds, 4th in blocks, 3rd in usage %, 3rd in win shares, 4th in PER, and second all time in points. In other words, like it or not, he's one of the best Trail Blazers of all time.

Booing him would be bush-league.

Yeah I wouldn't boo.

Hope others don't it'll make us look bad. Current players might be turned off; thinking "hey are they going to boo me one day if I play well here for 9 years and become an allstar?"

This thread asks, what is our quantity of respect for Ed Davis. The thread seems to say that Davis is a cardboard stand-in for our irritation at Aldridge. The more annoyed a fan is at Aldridge, the more he respects Davis.

I'm not going to applaud someone who- if in just about any other profession - if he mailed it in on a nightly basis like he did - would be out of a job.

All the while making millions, being catered to by the team, supported by most fans - then turns around - quits on us in the Playoffs, lies about re-signing, is at ends with other top talent on the team because of his inferiority complex - all the while causing discord with his passive aggressive diva ways.

F*&k that guy.

I think he's one of the best compilers of all time for the Blazers but in terms of 'Best', I put Drexler, Walton, Porter, Petrie and Lucas ahead of him. For me he is about with Sabonis. LA had more stats but Sabas had a much bigger impact.

I'd sneer. And not clap. In that order.

I think I might just buy a ticket so I can boo the shit out of that asshole. Fuck lamarcus. Us booing him isn't going to scare people off from wanting to play here. There's no problem in calling out his whiny baby little bitch attitude.

I'd also love to start a chant for dame in this game. Something along the lines of dame being our true #1

I'm guessing there isn't any actual audio of him saying he wants to retire as the best blazer ever?

That would be lovely to play.

Crap, I hope not. And I think that any fan that appreciates the actual game of basketball appreciates what Big Ed brings to our particular team. Our feelings toward him have absolutely nothing to do with Aldridge. LA is not even in that conversation. We we respect Davis for what he's shown so far, small sample size be damned. Us older guys see a Buck, a Kermit or a Kenny. "Lunch bucket" guys that do the physical work that the Aldridges of the world refuse to do. Guys who don't say much but have a positive influence. Guys who really don't care if they get they get all the PR bullcrap. Guys who just appreciate the opportunity. It seems to me that the more we respect Big Ed, the more Aldridge looks like a cardboard stand in for Davis.
