Ed Davis to be Re-Evaluated in 7-14 days (1 Viewer)

With Ed out with the injury, this is an excellent opportunity to experiment with and enhance playing Meyers and Zach together as a swish3 power scoring strategy. I think that Meyers and Zach together on the court can offer a front court offense that will be successful in the playoffs. Meyers is helping Zach with swish3 scoring and Zach is helping Meyers with improved defense.

Just as Zach has worked so well with Ed, will be confidence building to see Zach and Meyers as a potent Blazer strategic winning factor.

I would play @HCP before I play Meyers

What did Meyers wear to the arena today?

Lillard (20) / Napier (28)
McCollum (32) / Lillard (16)
Turner (32) / McCollum (4) / Pat (12)
Aminu (35) / Collins (13)
Nurkic (33) / Collins (15)
Don't think Zach can sustain 28 mpg without getting into serious foul trouble

Well, if Collins fouled at the same rate he has this year, he would get 3.8 fouls in 28 minutes per game. However, he's gotten better about it since the all-star break, and with using that foul rate he'd get 3.2 fouls in 28 minutes per game (for comparison, Nurkic gets 3.1 fouls per 26 minutes).

So I think he'd be fine. If not, then you resort to the last options in Meyers/Swanigan.

We're gonna regret that Vonleh trade aren't we?
Trading Batum for him, or trading him for space?

We'll be fine. We just need to play Collins. If we had Moe we'd be fine because Moe could eat up some PF minutes.

It is not obvious to me that Vonleh will be picked up by another team this offseason. Vet min to the Blazers?

Vonleh has looked worse even though he's gotten more minutes and freedom in Chicago. Of course he's adjusting to a new team, but hes been pretty underwhelming. I'm rooting for him, but I don't think we're going to miss him. The guy Vonleh should be compared to is Swanigan, because Olshey pretty much made the decision on his future in Portland on draft night.

I really feel for Vonleh. He was our PFOTF last year and once we got Collins it became obvious that Collins was really the PFOTF for Portland. So he got traded to a team with more playing time available but without the same coaches from the past two years so he's essentially starting all over again.

Yeah, I’d still like to have him. I’d rather have Vonleh than Biggie, just for defense alone.

I’m sure this post will age well.

The big difference is not just what I mentioned above about getting under the luxury tax, but Vonleh was also due for a new contract at the end of the year. If it wasn't done before the trade deadline then that opportunity to get under the luxury tax was gone and we would likely lose Vonleh for nothing and pay the luxury tax.

Vonleh + #15 + #20 + #26 for Collins + Biggie + Cap space + some dead $$$

Seems like a really good deal to me.

Regardless, looking forward to Ed being eased back into the lineup.

Lest ye forget my Sig?

I have no idea what your sig says. I've had sigs disabled for years. Some of them started to get really obnoxious. It just got too tedious to scroll through several half-page long sigs on my phone just to read a 1-line post. Disabling sigs makes the forum much more readable on my phone and tablet and I don't miss them at all.

It says:

"Hit three 3 pointers in a row on the blazers court, then post."

Ed Davis targeted San Antonio or Denver for his return, but Terry Stotts says “there are no plans right now” to have him join team on trip.
