He's not a bad alternative tbh, but I gotta see the terms. I like his game.

Writing is on the wall, though. See ya, Lamarcus

Edit. 3yrs, 20.

Not bad.

So how many PF's are we going to acquire before getting more help at SF?

This is definitely one good strategy for tanking.

Like the Size that's been added.

Ed Davis averaged 8.3 points and 7.8 rebounds while appearing in 23.3 minutes per contest for what was a dismal Lakers team last year, and he could have chosen to return by activating his player option for just over $1.1 million for next season.
But size is always at a premium, and because Davis is capable of producing in a frontcourt role, it’s likely that he’ll be able to secure more guaranteed money over more years to play somewhere else.

The 25-year-old was effective in the pick-and-roll and on the offensive glass, while providing quality defense at the rim from the weak side, and on his man.
Davis needed to make 18 more baskets to qualify for the NBA’s field goal percentage leaderboard, where he would have ranked second at 60.1 behind only DeAndre Jordan.

Certainly a Plan C option. Solid role player but certainly not a 'Move the Needle' type.

I like Ed Davis. Kind of a dirty player, little attitude and a banger.

So LA is coming back to be Ed Davis' back-up? :comppunch:

That's a good contract for him.

I like it, pick up these undervalued role player types with easy contracts to move. When the cap is 90mm+ these guys are gonna be super valuable if they continue to develop.

Yeah Ed Davis is a nice player off the bench. I remember when he was traded to Memphis from Toronto in the Rudy Gay move, that there were posters on this board who thought that Memphis got the better end of the deal.

He had some good moments for the Lakers last year. The question is what is Neil up to. I wonder if one of our PF's is on the move in a trade. (Vonleh to Indiana?)

I don't like signing more big guys who need minutes. Essentially, this says no minutes for Vonleh.

Blazers definitely flying in the face of "the NBA is a wing league now" mentality. Just get big and beat people up, I guess?

Well . . . at least he's not a total stiff.

Looks like Neil's plan is let's go young and hope like hell one of these guys can step up in a few years.

What's next year's draft class supposed to be like?

Good signing. People Meyers, Mason and Vonleh can't play the entire game. We were talking about having LaMarcus and Monroe yesterday so now we have 70 minutes of game time that opened up. Ed Davis won't prevent Vonleh from having a backup role.

Holy shit this is a great pickup. He's a career 17 PER, with a huge jump in the last year after getting traded to the Lakers (20 PER). Career 56% shooter, a 12 point, 11 rebound guy per 36. Lopez-as-PF kind of guy. If Leonard is LA as Center, this is a great pairing.

Also, following the Olshey pattern, he's the 7th best player of the 2010 draft based on total Win Shares.

Kaman to Indiana in an unbalanced trade.
