Yep--everyone's coming for your guns, your lifted truck, your confederate flag, your velvet Reagan portrait, and all your mesh hats. Be warned. :MARIS61:

Haha, you can have it all, if I had it to begin with.

I don't know what Nate's context was. I don't know if he was talking down to you. I don't know if he meant it to be racist. But just because someone is BEING racist doesn't mean that the word they're using is generally racist, and that was all I was trying to find out and discuss. You keep going back to who said it and what he meant and that has never been my point of discussion. Not once. I only wanted to know if saying "edumacate" was considered racist at its core. If two white people say "edumcate" to each other, are they making fun of black people? That's all I wanted to know.

The red bolded is the problem. It's a problem I tried to explain to you but did you even read his comment? Maybe you wouldn't be so ready to defend him if you had the context? Here I'll help you out:

I said this to @rasheedfan2005 when he said I was afraid of police because I have more melanin:

"Says the guy who doesn't because of his melanin type?

We all have melanin but there are three forms of melanin phenomelanin , euromelanin , and neuromelonin.

Educate yourself."

@Nate responded with:

"Yeah, just edumacate yaself like this young king.

#fuckwhitepeople"

Not only was he saying that "edumacate yaself " and "young King" bullshit because I'm black but he's also implying that I'm not intelligent and that I hate white people (when I have white family members).

But please, find more ways to parse this shit than you already have.

And, naturally, somehow we ended up trying to parse the etymology of "edumacate" and ignoring the condescending "young king" and inflammatory #fuckwhitepeople.

Taken as a whole, "Yeah, just edumacate yaself like this young king. #fuckwhitepeople" is obviously attempting to belittle, offend, and stereotype dviss based on his race.

Completely false

Edumacate ya self - is a joke on dviss saying educate yourself. I’ve explained in an earlier post why I thought this was funny. So I won’t repeat.

Young king - that’s a little inside joke between us, because dviss thinks that if White devils never went to Africa, all of Africa would be a futuristic peaceful utopian, and every black person would be a king. — another aspect to this joke, is the fact that, dviss thinks that white people invented slavery, and introduced it to Africa. Which goes along with the last part of my joke.

#fuckwhitepeople - dviss openly hates white people. — white people magically introduced slavery to black people, which prevented all black people from being Kings.

The joke was pure gold.

Fool’s gold......

I have to think that we are reasonable people and capable of discussing issues related to race without resorting to the constant bickering and backbiting. Is it all about trying to show ourselves as better than the people on the other side of the discussion? That's almost exclusively what I'm seeing in this thread...on both sides.

Please, I beg of you all, give some grace, believe yourself to be better than the other person without the need to prove it, and be willing to let a perceived slight go without a response.
We can't prove it unless we start comparing schticks.

Sorry, I've been busy dealing with an Escape at work. Mot*#$*# fu*۩% FORD.

Do you want to be right, or do you want to be happy?
Ha!....long run fighting with the wife has made us both happier. That is what I told Cippy, I don't pretend apologize to my wife so I sure as shit ain't apologizing to dudes on a message board.

If I feel I was wrong I'll apologize. If I feel like there is a legit reason even though I didn't mean it that way I'll explain.

Fake apologies piss me off and you can search my posts for celebrities doing it if you care. Bothers the shit out of me.

Again, the lack of empathy means you think apologizing when you’re not wrong is fake (apologizing when you’re not regretful is fake, yes). I’m glad you have an accord with your wife; she sounds like a good and patient person.

You know what I just realized. All the guys who want to arm teachers, are the same ones that voted for Trump, and are on the same side of this argument....... that's interesting.
I don't want to arm no fucking teachers. If sane teachers sneak a gun to school every day and one ends up taking out a psycho I'd throw him or her a parade.

She's also wrong often as she is a human being. Same as Dviss. I'm not going to apologize for something I didn't do and I never will.

What's funny is how you admit you said it to me because I'm black.... Right above in black and white... And racist jokes in your opinion are "pure gold"....

Sigh just put me on ignore man...

You sir, may have written the code book.

Apologies are actually rather useless.
Friends rarely need them and only enemies demand them, then take them as a sign of weakness.

Where have I defended him? I wasn't even talking about his post.

I asked at the very beginning for someone to explain to me how "edumacate" was racist.

You could have said, "the word in itself is not racist. The person saying it to me was being racist." And I would have accepted that and moved on. It had nothing to do with his post specifically. I wanted to know if the word, by itself, was considered racist. That's it. That's all. Nothing else. No agenda.

Moreso with the older generation.

Which, was quickly supported by one of the old-timers pointing this out, and the first two folks that liked this comment are also old-timers.

Because I don't care about Dviss feuding with people on this forum. That's between him and them.

But when someone says that a word is racist, and I have never heard anything tying that word to being racist, I'm just going to ask for some clarification. If he had simply said, "the word isn't the problem. It's the entire sentence and how he was talking to me," problem solved. I get it.

But I want to know, if I'm hanging with my friends and someone says, "I'm gonna get me an edumacation," are some people going to take that as offensive to black people? And if so, why? Good grief, questions are usually considered a good thing. Curiosity leads to better understanding. Or I guess we can just take someone's word for it. :dunno:

Ha!
It takes awhile to learn.
