I do not quite know how to address this but it does seem like there is a deep cultural divide between us that stems from where we live an more perhaps how we live, with even a larger part caused by what our interests are.

I truly do not know what some of this racist things are in dviss hand book. Nor am I of any mind to learn. I do not intent to harm him but I do not intend to learn the code anymore than I intend to learn to speak French.

I still don't get the KFC thing. But it does ring a bell of how I may have step in it years ago.
I have told this tale before so I will make it shorter.
I set up a class dinner way back in 1961 in Lexington, KY. I didn't know shit about racism in that day either, and the guides at the Henry Clay house had told me there was none in Lexington. Well I got reservations at the consensus favorite Steak house but when we arrived in small groups they would not let the two Black guys in the class in the establishment!

I took the whole group out of there to the Blue OX , Colonel Sanders' original Kentucky Fried Chicken place.
The black guy bitched to the Boss of the IBM school about my insensitivity. Well fuck! I did the best I could think of at the moment.

But did I step in it with the KFC thing here? I still don't know why! Not that intend to learn the code book, but I am curious about this one?

I think there is more to this picture too in the differences between people that live in the City and those that do not. More in the type of people we are
as I think we choose where we prefer to be and we perceive culture differently too. But for another day.

To me the ignore button solves a lot of these ping pong ugly ass arguments....I do think the insult rule should be used in the OT section like the Blazers section and I do think some folks around here should get the ban hammer......thing is these long drawn out arguments get Denny a lot of hits on the site.........maybe it's intentional!!! I read the site when I'm not logged in and it always amazes me how much people I have on ignore continue to insult me even when I don't engage them here....fact....the place gets ugly in OT....I think it keeps a lot of quality posters away from the site....I have no problem with smack talk if it's just smack talk but there's a contingency of members who take themselves way too seriously for a social media site...merging some of these threads would help...how many gun law threads do we need?

If people aren't listening then give them at least a temporary ban. But locking threads is not the answer imo and doesn't fix anything.
