“they called willie mays a monkey, as a compliment”. Are you trying to justify that?
It never occurred to me to justify it.
Help me out here. I never understood who crusified Cosell, or why.

You seem to have a feel, what sets your hair on fire? It is pretty illogical you know.

None needed.

It was not a racial slur or even a slur of any kind.

It was compliment of the highest order given to the best of the best, mostly whom were caucasians at the time. And it was received that way.

okey dokey. you can stick to your story. pretty much since...forever...calling a black person Monkey would be considered an extremely racist thing and justifiably so. I have an idea. Next time you see a black man, you should say 'hey whats up monkey', and then just explain that you are just being nice and Willie Mays was once called a monkey so its all good.

Might be a few ass beatings taken but if we stick with it and keep explaining how it is a compliment......nah, nevermind.

When you're calling this one president one day remember, even though his last name is Iqwé, he was born in
I’ve been to that 7-11 like 100 times. I’ve been to corner stores all around the state, I’ve never seen someone open carrying.

I actually have seen dviss walking down mcloughlin with his kid. Right next to that 7-11 even.

Maybe I’ll see this mystery open carry person.

But, there’s a gun store right next to that 7-11... so maybe some kid killer, I mean, gun owner wanted to get a coors light before he bought some more bullets.

Open carry is allowed in our state. So....

This man was dressed very western (hat boots etc.)

We made eye contact, I smiled and kept it movin'.

I never said he was a threat, just that seeing his P94 made me a bit nervous.

I have personally never understood open carrying. Why would you want people to know you're armed? That makes you an easy mark.

So it's cowboy attire that scares you, not guns?

It is far easier than concealed carry, which was designed to create situations where guns can be confiscated and gun owners can be arrested simply for bearing arms.

It is (for many) the result of Oregon's UnConstitutional ban on concealed carry, which requires participating in an UnConstitutional gun registry in addition to crippling fees, and the danger of being arrested for concealed carry in cities like Portland even when having a permit for concealed carry.

In Beautiful Central Oregon I see people open carry on a daily basis, in most stores when I shop, in restaurants, at community meetings...

It is a welcome sight to most here, a sign that we have each other's backs, a sign that America has not been defeated by evil.

Ready like guard on duty though to whip out the label.

This MF...

Is asking when chicken and black people became racist...
You know, I really can't answer that. Maybe the folks that made this could:

I disagree. If someone doesn't know that I am armed, I have the element of surprise. If they can clearly see my weapon, it's much easier to sneak up on me, put a gun on me, or even try to grab the gun from behind. It's a bad idea.

Thank you.
But this time frame is way too late to give me any answer to the incident in 1961.
Since I was the one that was report to management for my insensitivity, I was just curious if the original Cornell Sanders place that I took the group too, including the two black guys who made the complaint, added to my list of screw ups? Just sort of wondering if it went that far back and I stepped right into the shit.

Oh, BTW. It was really good stuff back then too. Not at all like the stuff they sell today.
KFC was way out there, years to come.

It's not about KFC, it's simply about chicken. Southern Fried chicken. I'm not sure why I have to explain it... It's a common reference the stereotype is that ALL blacks love fried chicken.

Well, we learned how to make it from white folks. And my contention is that most everyone likes it save vegans ect.

Not sure why we get tagged with the whole chicken thing.

Turkey is my fav.

I like fried chicken.

What does that make me?

Turkey is my fav.

Me too.

When I get ready to go to sea for a few days, I cook up some chicken legs and Thighs. Turkey legs too.

Boiled to get the fat off and skin loose so I can throw it away. Don't want any fat to churn around in tummy.
So, with this stash in the fridge, ready to travel and not too much galley duty needed at sea.

Of course If I had a cook! Life would be different. Except Cooks get sick too. So prior proper planning works best.

Just a thought.
You get tagged with it, because you take offense. They tried doing the same to us Irish and Scots too
with Potatoes, Beer, Whiskey. It didn't work, No one gave a shit.

I disagree. Chicken is cheap. That's why we eat it. It's also why there aren't many black golfers.

You can buy a basketball for $18.

I find my diet has evolved. I used to be a big beef eater...anymore my meat of choice is yard bird.

Oh yeah! I am going to the store soon here, dang near out of too much stuff. Going to get a beef steak for dinner, probably near to a month since the last.
I just know that sucker will give me heart burn. I sure wish I could just eat the smell.

uh yes! It is cheap and good too!

But now, dang it! We just had a failure to communicate!

I was not speaking about why you eat chicken. I was speaking about why you get tagged as a group for being chicken eaters!

Because you take offense! Perhaps, just a thought.

No offense, the tag falls off. Perhaps, just a thought.

Which came first, the chicken or the tag? :dunno:
