Election board: Emanuel will remain on ballot

arlier Thursday, Morris released his ruling that accepted Emanuel’s argument that it was not his burden to prove he had established residency but rather the burden of objectors to prove he had “abandoned” his Chicago residency.

“The heart of the question of the candidate’s residence is not whether the candidate established residence in the Chicago in 2010, but rather if, at some point prior to, or during, but in any event affecting, the period from and after February 22, 2010, he abandoned it,” Morris wrote.

Chicago Board of Election Commissioners got this one right.

I'm no fan of his, but he was born in Chicago, lived there all his life, his family lives there, he owns property there, etc. Government service in D.C. as a representative or at the request of the president shouldn't be held against him any more than if he were in the military serving overseas.

I never mentioned this before, but Rahm Emanuel and I were classmates at the same school for a few years. I don't exactly remember him, or really any of the other kids, but I do remember his face.

Sure, that's a typical response to trauma. My guess is he beat you up regularly.

Actually, I can't remember any of the kids I went to school with either, except for the one who later became a famous baseball player, and the girl I had a crush on.

Who was that famous baseball player? Joe DiMaggio?

He should have been on the ballot. Saying he's not from Chicago is just silly. He's not a carpetbagger like former Sen. Clinton.

You remember someone who later became both a famous baseball player and the girl you had a crush on?
