Go after him Neil! He just got waived by the Knicks for salary purposes.
Would be the ideal backup true PG

Well, he averaged over 2 steals and 9 assists and 6 rebounds per 36 last year, that's pretty darn good. Though I don't like seeing a guard who shot .570 FT last year. Can't shoot the three of course.

I dispute that! Acquiring a backup PG is very much NOT an Olsheyish move. This would very much be an Olsheyish move
He's a nice backup, spot starter. I just don't think he would get enough minutes to satisfy himself. Plus the bigger needs are backup center, and starting power forward.
I really think there is a good chance Detroit is not going to bring back Wood, I would offer Zach in a sign and trade, Wood has shown enough IMO, Zach has not and he's up for a deal next yrYes a starting forward and a backup center are a much bigger need. Nurk has played in one Blazers playoff win and Zach doesn't have a track record of health either.
I do think we should have a 3rd string PG on the roster this year, but it can be vet minimum guy. I'd rather have a better shooter than Payton but he wouldn't be a horrible option.
I might prefer Turner to Payton, he is a better defender, can defend more positions, and knows how to play with DameCJ Nurk when there is so little practice time.

Thank you for the lesson in ancient history, but I think he was referring to recent history.
