Why all this drama?

I wish both Meyers and Elle the best. But Meyers time is over in Portland. Time for everyone to move along with their lives.

Make the most of your second chance Meyers.

It's a little more fun in Hexadecimal form 4abbeb5. It's nice having the converter calculators. Us old geezers remember having to do that crap on paper. :biglaugh:
I used to do everything on paper because I was like I can do this better! Then I realized I couldn't, I did it the same and a lot slower lol.

I was the kid that had to know how it worked from beginning to end. I couldn't take anything based on faith. I just have a curious way about myself and the nature of things around me.

The variety of base systems fascinated me as a science/math/history major. For anyone looking for a fascinating read on numeral systems and the cultures from which they are derived I suggest reading two books, "The Crest of the Peacock: Non-European Roots in Mathematics" and "Math Through the Ages: A Gentle History for Teachers and Others."

Astronomy books also mention the variety of numeral systems within several cultures and how they all tie into their form of mathematics. All of this is generally encapsulated into what we call ethnomathematics.

Another fascinating read related to mathematics in general: "Innumeracy: Mathematical Illiteracy and Its Consequences."

Other topics of fascination for me: artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, language acquisition, archaeology, cultural anthropology, and many more. I can go on for days reading wonderful books within these topics.

Apathy Will ruin him too. Who is gonna watch all these videos of him flexing for no reason? At least when he did it here he got a lot of crap for it... He will miss that when miami wont even care lol.

I thought it was so profound that I copied it, switched the name to my name, and presented it as a script to many, many major studio heads. I don't really believe in the supernatural but I almost believe Kubrick would come back to life just so he could direct it as a film. Maybe Tarantino would wait to retire so he could direct it as his final send-off. Hard decisions. Shakespeare is probably rolling in his grave after being shown up.

A Dry Goodbye presents a compelling story that illustrates how Blazer fans missed the opportunity to get the best out of Meyers while in Portland. In both 2015 and 2019 Playoffs, Meyers set swish3 shooting records (76.9% and the 83.3% WCF Game 4 first half) that may never be equaled by another Blazer. Meyers has elite swish3 scoring efficiency that could have led to more Blazer wins with better game plans.

There is something that can be learned here. Fans can either add to the confidence of Blazer players, as we have done for Dame, Nurk, Zach, and Ant, or they can show disrespect by being hypercritical that decreases the chance for optimal performance. Fans pretending to know what a Blazer is thinking, criticizing towel waving and cheering from the bench, being quick to instantly boo any mistake, and complaining about salary that is a management decision are just wasting Blazer chances for Playoff wins and the Championship. The story here includes demoralizing Meyers to the point of depression rather than recognizing his contributions. There is a lot of credit due for his determined improvements in the last 2 years!

As a Meyers fan, I think that Meyers did not in fact have the chance that he deserved with the Blazers. After that Jan 30 decisive 132-105 win over Rudy Gobert and the Jazz after they had clobbered us twice in 3 days (including on Christmas), and with an early season shooting performance that led the Blazers, Meyers stayed on the bench in several games when he should have been scoring 3 or more swish3s per game. And Meyers should have started all of the WCF games. WCF Game 4 was the only game this year in which Meyers attempted 6 swish3s in one half (as I had been calling for all season), and he made 5 of them, consecutively, and led all Blazer scoring.

We no longer have Meyers to score swish3s, and now must rely on others. Let's hope that Rodney, Anthony, or somebody will help Dame and CJ reach the 15 scored swish3s likely needed to win games next season. But what Blazer fans need to learn is that recognizing and encouraging talent promotes the best in Blazers by building their confidence. Basketball is a game of confidence! Let's build it, and avoid bashing it.

Elle, quit blaming fans for your husband's shaky confidence.

Let's assign Meyers a million 3s a game so we can score a billion points!

OK BonesJones, your ID says "We got shooters." Assuming that Dame and CJ together score 8 swish3s per game, who do you expect will contribute the additional 7 swish3s that we will need for the 15 that correlate with winning next season?

God damn that's a fast reaction time, and he wasn't even tagged :biglaugh:

I dont know. I wish we kept Meyers so that we could assign him to contribute the million threes needed to correlate with winning all season!

Bazemore 1.5
Tolliver 1.5
Hezonja 1
Simons 1.5
Hood 1.5

That's 7 based on career averages and projecting Simons

Blazers 2019-2020 NBA champions confirmed

Thank you, I wanted to do something like that but was ultimately too lazy

To accomplish that many 3's, those players typically played:
Bazemore 27 mpg
Tolliver 20 mpg
Hezonja 20 mpg
Simons 24 mpg
Hood 27 mpg

That's 138 mpg based on career averages and projecting Simons.

Leaves just 102 mpg for Dame, CJ, Whiteside, and Collins. I don't think the 5 above will be playing the minutes necessary to provide those 7 3's.

Collins can give us one 3 a game as a starter probably. so It's fine if those other guys number sag a bit from playing less minutes, still 15 threes a game and CHAMPIONSHIP

I'm ready for some swishdunkandones…..

I'll be interesting to see if that poster starts posting in the Miami forum on this page (tho it's pretty much a ghost town)

Interesting. A wife defends her husband AND thanks the town that rode him hard and she ends up getting trashed herself. I was never a huge Meyers fan but like the rest of us, he’s a human being. I appreciate that Elle put forth the effort to share her perspective (regardless of whether she is actually @swish3 or not). I sincerely believe that every husband hopes his spouse will have his back like Elle has Meyer’s back. And I give her a great deal of credit for taking the high road on her way to Miami. I wish them both the best, personally and professionally.

I was a huge fan of Meyers on draft day. He had NBA level skills. As the years went by, it became clear his mental problems were holding his game back.

Now we learn he had a "mood" disorder. Which is often associated with a grandiose dilusional disorder. Which he clearly also has.

I hope Meyers gets well, and takes advantage of his second chance. He is now in his prime, and his skills will start to decline. Due to his weak mental health, I fear the end of his career may turn ugly.
