Elliott Williams

This honestly perplexes me because Rudy almost never gets to the rim. He has no moves that let him get by his defender.. Am I taking crazy pills?

When given a chance, he does, he's just not very aggressive, probably because he hates finishing....since he can't.

Rudy's not strong and usually can't force the ball in when he and his opponent have their hands around the hoop. So he has learned in the NBA not to try. Williams (just as weak, 3 inches shorter, but better leaper) may learn the same inhibition at this level. As for perimeter defense, wasn't Rudy's reputation just as good before he joined the NBA?

More current than the physical comparison is the mental one. Rudy makes no errors in passing, sees the court, and busily helps everyone. It will take years, if ever, for Williams to get the same basketball IQ.

So if Williams replaces Rudy next season, it's a downgrade for at least a couple of years.

He does when he's guarded by Kobe Bryant...

Elliott Williams sounds like he might fit well in a backcourt with Brandon Roy. He can guard the quicker of the opponent's guards and advance the ball in a pinch.

When are we going to stop building the team around Brandon Roy? He will never be a full time starter again so its silly to talk about how players would fit well with him.

If anything Elliott would hopefully be able to replace the crippled Roy as an acceptable backup guard.

I don't expect much from him this upcoming year. To me, he looks like a three year project with a high beta.
