Heard earlier today on ESPN that the 76ers had agreed to trade forward Rodney Carney and a future No. 1 pick to the Minnesota Timberwolves in order clear salary cap space for Philadelphia to make a stronger push for Brand. Sounds like Ed's plan has worked!

good for ed... i still think hes not that great of a GM... im sorry... hmm maybe we can work a S&T for josh smith! haha (a man can wish)

Just more reason for you guys to bide your time and stick to your rebuilding path.

why cant lebron force the trade to the nets now?!?! to SHUT UP THE WHOLE EAST and the ATLANTIC!

wow, all of a sudden the Atlantic Division is the toughest/ strongest in the NBA

it sure is... well lets hope the rookies play better than expected....

Yeah...uhh no.

That's still the Southwest, IMO. If the Nets and Knicks were more competitive, we probably would be.

There are a lot of great PF's in the East and Atlantic now. Nets better hope Brook has a great year.

Does that mean Josh Smith would have a good chance in LA? Since the CLipps have around 70 mill offered to Brand, they would take that money and send it to Smith's way.

hawks will match that in a second

Well it's a good time for NJ to rebuild, because Philly, Toronto, and Boston are doing better.

then josh childress will be a RFA... cuz if the hawks match the 70 million... they wont have enough for the other josh... childress... and that means they tie 2 players with a lot of their cap... joe johnson and josh smith... i love josh but hes the pippen of most teams... not the jordan

ROBIN NOT BATMAN

this is great news tbh.

Brand is better than Smith now, but we won't compete for 2 more years. At that point Smith will be better, and he would have a good chance to be a Sixer if they didn't get Brand. This also drives down the amount of suitors for Krstic. He'll be more likely to be a Net, and cheaper at that. Josh Smith is more likely to stay with Atlanta, so Childress could leave them, and, could we possibly get him? he would be great.

yeah, since Brand went to philly doesn't look like they have a need for Kristic now...

honestly... id love to have josh smith... he would be the pippen to lebron if we did get him

lol sixers all the way? id put money thats wrong

Been a while for me.

Looks like the Sixers just got a lot stronger without losing anything basically. Several teams have now gotten better in this early offseason from the East...

The Raptors have improved (I am not a JO fan, but I think he will be productive and not to mention far happier in a new setting)
The Knicks have improved (D'antoni is enough of an increase over Isiah...Duhon is not a bad move either)
The Bulls + Heat got the 2 best players in the draft
The Bucks look like a realistic 6-8 seed in the East again (Redd, RJ, Mo Will., Villanueva, Bogut, etc)
Boston is still Boston, Detroit is still Detroit
The Cavs are a perennial playoff team with LeBron and Co.
Orlando is still a fine team in the East, Pietrus is a nice pick up as well
I feel the Pacers have improved with TJ Ford and a player in Brandon Rush who I feel will be a top rookie (now they can be the running team they have wanted to become with personnel moves as well)
The Hawks are a decent young team and will still make a move I am sure

Where does that leave us?? .....I am very excited for the upcoming season, and I know that our final roster is far from set much like some other teams in the East. But I think it is going to be quite competitive in the "lowly" East as many saw it over recent years

honestly, its not like the nets were going to be highly competitive over the next two seasons anyway.

This is just gonna be good for us cause in two years when all these teams will not have cap room and a bunch of old players we'll be there to snag a big free agent(hopefully James).

i still honestly believe we will be a competitive team as long as Yi and our rookies get better... and i hope boone and swat emerge into solid players... i want us in the playoffs! yes i said it i want us in the PLAYOFFS... exp for the youngins

nike's master plan is to get kobe and lebron to battle in the atlantic and offers them $250M each to do it...

haha that'd be great... but doesnt kobe already get the extra 15% because LA is a major market?

exactly. though I'd love to see some progress (team's chemistry, assertive plays) towards the end of this season and during next one. Lebron has to see it also

What are the odds about next draft strength? because we're definitely going to be in the top 5.
