Reagan had only a 30% favorable in 1980Yes, a rock star with the worst favorability in modern political history.
Outside of his home state, Trump doesn't even draw a majority of Republican support and has the worst favorability ratings among Republican candidates. Feel free to bet on that in the general election, when Republicans become less than half of the voting population.
I certainly agree that Clinton is no Obama. In fact, in a normal cycle, Clinton would probably be doomed in the general election. Fortunately for her and the Democrats, the Republicans seem set to nominate one of the worst candidates ever seen...and that's true whether it's Trump or Cruz.
Their other option is to rules-lawyer the nomination away from either and hand it to a "white knight," and blow up their party properly.

Wanna wager? His favorables were 30%No, he was polling at 30% against Carter early on. That's different than favorable/unfavorable ratings.

Anderson finished in the poll with a 68 percent favorable rating. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy was second with a 60 percent favorable rating followed by President Carter with 51 percent and Ronald Reagan with 30 percent.
Not at all. But the "favorables" argument has already been proven false. Just putting it out there.Ok then, you are correct.
Trump is guaranteed victory.

You can reverse that and say the same for Trump. Virtually all the democrats and more than half the republicans don't want to vote for Trump.
We'll soon see.

"The favorables argument has been proven false" is just word salad that doesn't mean anything. Reagan came back from a deficit--that's great for him but hardly means it's a good thing or something that's likely to be overcome. Saying, "The Bills came back from a 35-3 deficit in the 1993 playoffs, therefore my team being down by 32 points is no problem" is pretty silly.

So "Hitler had all of EUROPE heading for death camps but Quarterback USA blitzed him for the just-in-time win" was a bad thing?![]()

That response would work if the one with such a low favorable was also behind in the party nom. Also, keep in mind that Hillary is only like 10 points ahead in favorables. Should be an easy general for Trump because Trump will hit the liberals back 10 x as hard as they do. Yeah, let's see how that goes.
I'm trademarking this term: Magsplosion.
I just have a feeling it will come in handy.

“If a mainstream Republican candidate were the presumptive nominee, the GOP would likely be in a strong position for a lot of wins, top to bottom, in November. “
Heh heh. Wishes, fishes...

In a head-to-head matchup of each party’s frontrunner, Mrs. Clinton leads Mr. Trump by only 3 percentage points nationally (46 to 43; 11 percent undecided). Comparatively, Mr. Sanders fares slightly better against Mr. Trump (51/40/10).
