Eric Maynor happy for opportunity with Blazers despite leaving contending Thunder
By Mike Tokito, The Oregonian

So there was a bittersweet aspect of Maynor joining the Trail Blazers, who acquired him Thursday in a trade-deadline deal involving a trade exception and the draft rights to a Greek player.

“It was tough, but it’s a business,” said Maynor, who spoke to Portland reporters for the first time after the Blazers’ practice. “You talk to all those guys when you leave, and it was like we started something special over there, and some stuff comes to an end. But I’m excited to be in Portland now.

It's nice to see him leave gracefully and show excitment to the new team he joins. Too many players look like this when they get traded from an up and coming team.

While his new teammates were playing the Lakers on Friday, Maynor was in Portland taking a physical, and the team also gave him a DVD of all of it plays. On Saturday, he practiced with the Blazers for the first time.

“It seems like he has a high basketball IQ,” Stotts said. “He’s picking up a lot of things that we run. I think he’ll have a quick learning curve.

That's a really good sign! I am getting excited now!

Hate the cliche "it's a business" a player says when he is traded. It's not a business, it's a game, and part of the game is that you can be traded around the league for the enjoyment of the GM, owner, and fans.

It's not a game, it's a business.

It's most definitely a business, Eric.

I'm curious, how did you feel when you were written off Bones? It's sorta like being traded isn't it? Business or a game?

Did Eric get traded around for the enjoyment of his fans?

And why am I calling him Eric? He doesn't call me Bartholomew.

Even if it's just politeness, frankly, I'd rather see politeness than sulks. Welcome, Eric.

I'd rather call him by his first name than that Bryant scum from LA with whom everyone seems to be on first name basis.
