BROUSSARD: I think Oklahoma City is the non-Lakers team that is most able -- perhaps even likeliest -- to have the best West record. But I think the Thunder are too young to reach the NBA Finals. Getting through that tough Western Conference playoff gauntlet is a lot to ask of a team with just one year of postseason experience and no playoff series wins. I thought about taking Dallas, but I can't put my faith in the Mavs. Therefore, I'll go with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Anybody with Insider want to look at this and provide any additional details on Broussard's commentary?

I wonder if this prediction is based on Oden having a healthy year, or if Broussard thinks we can do it without him?

Damn Straight we are. But the Lakers are not the team I'm worried about from the West.

Broussard clearly hasn't heard that Brandon Roy is struggling and is a quitter. Set him straight, Shooter!

You aren't worried about the Lakers?

Not in the RG anyway! And I'm more worried about the Refs in LA than the Fakers!

The Lakers might get some calls, but they just got done winning back to back titles; that didn't happen just because the refs willed it.

Don't the Blazers have to make it past the first round to get a chance to get by the Lakers?:devilwink:

it was funny listening to cowherd this morning. he was talking about "win streaks" in sports and how all he wants to know is who they played during the streak. so he says " look at the nba... if i see a team in a streak who beat the lakers, dallas, boston, orlando or oklahoma city... then im impressed but if i see they are out west playing golden stste, sac town, or the Blazers without oden... im not impressed.

jeez... collin.... saying oden plays for the blazers is a bit ridiculous. has he noticed the blazers win without him?

Set yourself straight, *edited*.

Slow your roll "HOMERS", we are very talented, but not up to the Laker's level.

You have to admit, they do have a really hard time beating the Blazers recently. We match up very well with them...moreso than the teams we've lost to in the first round the last couple of years.

I do agree we play them well, but until healthy, I can't put us at their level.

Be quiet, rookie!

(Sorry, but HCP is very busy these days, and as one of his alter-personas I am going to be taking the "insult the rookies" baton from him for a little bit.

Nah, Swoosh is friends with one of my boys......... so as hard as it is.......... I haven't been doing the regular hazing!

Blazers without Oden? Haha... I know, right? The Blazers suck without Oden. I mean, they haven't made the playoffs in years..... oh wait.

Don't you guys say this every year?

Yes. Every year we say that Broussard thinks the Blazers are the likeliest team to knock off the Lakers. Going back to the mid-1940s, at least.

No. I'm pretty sure there is a draft of it in the Constitution, some where. In the fine print.

I actually started saying it in the late 30s - but had to stop because of war world 2 and all that kind of stuff. Of course, it was resumed after the war - and that's where everyone gets the mid-1940s bit.
