I probably would have taken him at the trade deadline to give him audition with the team, but to sign him outright after how badly Houston has performed this season...... and it would have to be a fairly sizable contract. No thanks.
Depends on who else you can get a buy in from. All this talk about Horford or Whiteside etc. relies on the scenario where they actually choose Portland. Howard at the very least has less suitors, and is a more realistic target. Not saying make him priority A, but if all else fails walking away this offseason with no one would be a massive failure.
I actually want to keep Leonard over Crabbe
And that has nothing to do with the Jersey!
I think Crabbe is more replaceable than Leonard.
Don't worry, they will change the Hack-A-Player rule though.Lot of red flags with Howard...I'd guess Stotts would balk at bringing in the coach killer. If he bought into the team concept there's no doubt he'd make us better on the court when facing teams with allstar rim protectors in the paint. Wouldn't help our free throw percentage much though.
Leonard was hardly a factor during this season. How is that not easy to replace?
I think he still has some room for growth and the things be brings to the table are much harder to find than what Crabbe does.
I agree with you in that if Leonard doesnt improve then he is a waste, but I think he can and will. His outside shooting and size are much more sought after and needed than Crabbes abilities in my opinion.
I'm basing my wants on potential and the future not on history and what they have/have not done.
Id take dwight. We need a rim protector. But it still wouldnt fix our issue of needing a pf. Howard and leonard would make a great center combo.
Buttttt, where would that leave plumlee and davis?
Guess we could put a package together with some of the bigs
I'd totally take him if the team sat him down and explained to him that he isn't the same player he was in Orlando and he'd be the third option. If he's okay with that I'd totally bring him in. Surprisingly enough, all of the teams mentioned are small market teams, that benefits us.
The big problem that I see is that we would have to renounce some people to clear enough cap space to make significant moves.
I want to keep Crabbe.
I want to keep Harkless.
I don't really want to keep Leonard, but I also don't want to lose him for nothing.
What if we could get both Dwight Howard and Greg Menore this off season? Neil has to shoot big. Our front line will change so be prepared and don't fall in love.
You only need to renounce Henderson and possibly one of Crabbe/Hark/Leonard depending on the price.
3&D players like Crabbe are extremely sought after. Danny Green is getting $10 million per year right now with the Spurs... go look at his averages. He's lousy.
Mason has another year on his contract. If Plumlee could just hit a wide open jumper he'd be a nice PF I think. I wonder what kind of offers Mason will get this offseason.
And it's a great contract..whole lotta bang for the buck with MasonMason has another year on his contract.
Sorry, I meant for our situation for the Blazers. I think Leonards potential skill set is more of as need than Crabbes for the Blazers.
One or both of those guys will probably price themselves out of Portland..I don't see Neil breaking the bank for either guy.See, I think that means Leonard needs to go. We DO have a need for a big who can score, and Leonard is just not very good. So the one guy that we have to fill that role is sub-par. To me, that means we need to go out and find a better player to fill that need.
Crabbe is a luxury, and I would like to at least explore a trade. I don't want to let him walk for nothing.
