I'm a bit surprised Mo is ranked behind Robin Lopez.

ESPN projects Mo Williams as an average 6th man. They're not buying the "6th starter" proclamations. On a personal note, I absolutely love this. If we would have had any average 6th man coming off the bench at ANY position last year we would have been much better.

The results of the bench rankings is complete. Our second 5 have a net average of 0.74 above the league average. This agrees with what I thought and what I was hoping for.

Aren't these rankings based on projected impact, not necessarily who's better. If so, I can understand the consensus that our starting center will have more of an impact (and probably play more minutes) than our backup combo guard.

I thought it's a rank of quality this season, not impact or minutes played.

I think they're wrong. For this season, I'd rank them (in quality, not minutes):

6. Williams
7. Wright
8. Robinson
9. Watson
10. Claver
11. McCollum
12. Leonard
13. Freeland
14. Crabbe
15. Barton

I thought it was rank of NBA player value. A ranking of impact would be stupid that would basically be a fantasy basketball ranking. This is what ESPN says:

This year, we asked our ESPN Forecast panel to predict the overall level of play for each player for the upcoming NBA season. This includes both the quality and the quantity of his expected contributions, combined in one overall rating.

This has got to be one of your odd jokes. There is no way Watson gets any playing time now that we have Mo. Claver will not get any minutes with Batum, Wright, Matthews, LaMarcus and TRob playing the forward minutes.

I couldn't have dealt with that issue any more explicitly or simply than I did. Read it again.

As you see, I value experience. McCollum and Leonard will move up and start about 2 years from now. I question whether Barton will be in the league.

Barton is a joke if we could cut his contract or trade him for nothing I'd do it. Obviously Freeland is terrible too. By default I have to rank Crabbe above them because he is less known so even though I expect little he gets ranked ahead by default. The thing is with all the guards we have there just isn't a need for Watson. If Lillard or Mo are injured I suppose he could get a role in some backup minutes but I just don't see any way he can help the team. Now if you put him on our squad last year he might have been our top reserve. I liked the signing until we signed Mo.

Claver is a tough one, he does a lot of stuff without the ball to help the team. He is a very well rounded player, just can't throw a stone into the ocean. Our roster is really full of shooters so if we get to a point where we need some play from specialist role players perhaps Claver or Watson get some burn. I'd be surprised if that happened.

Here's how the players have changed from last year to this summer:

We're currently at #156, so the rankings of Damian Lillard and Robin Lopez will show positive improvement.

The ranking of Meyers Leonard went up, so he played slightly better than ESPN rankers thought he would.

The rankings of the Williams and Wright went down which explains why we were able to get them cheaply (actually it's a chicken and egg thing).

The rankings for Thomas Robinson went up slightly, so despite the common perception that he had a disappointing season, his rating went up.

Can you change the improvement numbers so they are directionally consistent? The minuses on improving players are a bit counter intuitive if mathematically accurate... Plus Mo's is backwards.

Not sure where we left off, but......

#151 Dre Miller
#149 Gerald Wallace

Your use of big numbers confuses me.

Let me try this again in something you know:
