A behind-the-scenes look at Portland Trail Blazers game day

To the casual fan, a Portland Trail Blazers game typically starts at 7 p.m., when nearly 20,000 fans settle into their seats at the Moda Center and the lead official tosses a basketball up for tipoff.

But, in reality, a Blazers game starts about three hours earlier, at 3:58 p.m., when Jake Layman steps foot on the hardwood, becoming the first player to reach the court.

As Layman arrives, a BlazerDancer is twisting and twirling by herself at midcourt, working through steps of a routine in a pregame rehearsal. A man climbs a ladder beneath the basketball hoop and places a camera above the backboard, which will be used for those slick close-ups around the hoop during the television broadcast. Overhead, a heated matchup between the Chicago Bulls and Toronto Raptors is airing on the jumbotron....

Mention Max in the concession stand.

Mayo should be outlawed. It ruins sandwiches, hamburgers and salads. I remember once when I was a kid my mom mixed mayo and cool whip for a salad, and put what she didn't use back in a cool whip container.

I didn't know it, and opened it up to have some and as it entered into my mouth, I about barfed.

Why anyone would violate such a sacred thing as cool whip with that vile disgusting thing I don't know.
Like, I understand the "oil barrier" to keep the bun from sogging up from the tomato on your hamburger, but the solution to that is (A) use butter like a civilized human and (B) quit putting vegetables on hamburgers!

Allen Crabbe mixes up his pregame cuisine, but never goes without eating something in the locker room before a game.

This obviously explains why he's so inconsistent; he's not superstitious enough!!

I never use mayonnaise or Miracle Whip. I make tuna vegetable salad with yogurt sauce+ yogurt, lime, mint, garlic, olive oil. Never use Cool Whip, I get cream not ultra pasteurized from free range cows and make whipped cream using sugar, not too much, and home made vanilla extract. Shred vanilla beans, steep in Bourbon 3 months.

Well, onions are mandatory on a good hamburger. But butter is ok, but I use bbq sauce and or mustard to act as the barrier.

Mayo is da bomb, y'all are brainwashed by Michelle Obama or some shit. Hook up some of that white boy yum yum Asian sushi mayo sauce for dippin tots and whatever.

I don't get this, onions make burgers sing.

Mayo is overused...it's vinegar and eggs anyway...I use it sparingly as a spice but don't like it squirting out of a sandwich ever...when I use it in a tossed salad you wouldn't even know it's there....add capers, olives, nuts, olive oil, garlic, etc....and it's like salt...a little brings out flavor but you don't want to eat a qtr lb of raw salt....not a fan of tartar sauce they put on fish ...overwhelms everything else..and too much mayo is gross...sells a lot of napkins though so probably good for the GNP. I always thought it was for Catholic kids on Friday's for school lunch because they didn't like the taste of fish.....bury it in vinegar...just like the Brits do

This thread will get a lot of posts...at least it'll bury the posts by the dude who hates Lillard....food textures....I hate sticky sweets like Tong Yen ....those little pink and white Chinese desert balls they serve in soup....takes about 2 hours to chew a spoonful....YUCK!!! I hate persimmons because they taste like insulation coated in sugar....same with cotton candy

A sandwich sounds good next fall, perhaps i should try this.

What kind of oil do you use? I'm gonna try this..

I use Publix "light tasting olive oil". I really shouldn't...normally I use JOe and Sons Olive Oil for the taste and nutrition, but in this case I don't need to use a $20 bottle to make it taste good. And lime juice worked just as good as lemon for me.

you can use the garlic and mustard like they do, but I've used chilies, capers to make it a bit more like tartar sauce...I haven't tried the cinnamon-and-fruit that some do.

I love extra mayo on all my sandwiches. Also hate ketchup, vinegar, and anything sweet, like chocolate, vanilla, ..... Yucko. I like sour and peppery food. Probably explained why I smoked for years.

From watching his spotty play, I've learned to not trust Evan Turner.
