Exit interviews

One of them can catch and hit a three. The other has to take a dribble in, and usually so he can take a turn-around jumper under pressure.

I'll take the first guy.
Exactly. I think crabbe would be happy to come back knowing that he would have a legit shot at being 6 th man of the year.

Hopefully Olshey has a good discussion with the Agents of our 3 FA and makes it very clear that we will take core of them, but asks them to give the Blazers a few days to lock up a FA. Luckily I doubt any of the 3 are going to be MOSS (Midnight Offer Sheet Signers)
Agreed but you never know. Aminu was signed very quickly by us last year.

Crabbe kept saying he "doesn't mind" coming back.

I really interpret that as - "I'm gonna go out and get my check, If you want me back you better match."

He's just doing what's smart for his wallet. If he says this is the place he wants, he's going have less suitors on the market for that payday.

With CJ running the point, and the propensity of small ball, one of those guys could still get big minutes. I think having them both splitting that time doesn't make that much sense. I really have liked Hendo, but I would let him walk and resign Crabbe. His skill set fits in better with this team and he still has room to improve.
I agree on all points. But to the first point, while I personally agree that there are enough minutes Crabbe's/Henderson's ego may want the start, regardless of how many minutes they can get off the bench. I think it's short-sighted, and may be an indicator that they aren't the type of player we want to invest in. But again, they may just be saying noncommittal things to help them get big contract offers, and would be perfectly happy coming off the bench once they have a contract they feel good about.

Aminu sounded like he said he was mostly training in MIA this summer. So far if that is true then he would be the first one to say not in POR most of the summer.

Henderson will likely head back to the Hornets. They are another feel-good team where he could potentially start. Plus I'm sure he has a sweet crib there.

Crabbe's D has been both praised and maligned this season. I've seen both sides, but he's young and improving. I think he has shown a lot of defensive potential, he's a damn good shooter, and he's starting to show offensive consistency.

Aminu's interview was really short. Nothing really to say about it. Pretty generic answers. Likes Stotts, wants the whole team to continue to work hard, etc.

Crabbe is going to be our 3&D guy. Harkless will be better next season. Vonleh will be better next season. And somehow Olshey is going to use that cap space to further improve the team.

I've had my bubble burst so many times. Somebody stop me, because I'm feeling optimistic again!

Agreed - from what everyone has posted Crabbe and Henderson sound like the guys who are least interested in being here. And I bet their reason is the same: CJ.

Really?

"Most fun year I've had as a pro" "I can't imagine a better place than here" -Gerald Henderson on Portland and free agency

Bartender, give him another. It's on me! :smiley-beerchug:

Stotts is next. He is proud of the player development by the players and the coaches. Everyone top-to-bottom improved. Chemistry was also amazing.

Once he signs an offer sheet, the first year of that offer becomes his cap hold. If he makes a decision during the moratorium, his cap hold will be much bigger after 7/6.
Incorrect. His cap hold stays the same to us. The offering team, however, will have a hold of his amount.

I'm consistently guilty of falling in love with our players but I'm feeling so high about the team today I want to keep them both. This is a contract year for them, they both played their guts out and earned every penny of their salaries. They were ultra professional, great attitudes, great chemistry. I love that we drafted Crabbe and I got to watch him come into his own this season. I loved Hendo's veteran leadership, toughness, and general bad assery.

It's like asking me to choose between Maurice Lucas and Jerome Kersey.

The impression I got from Crabbe's exit interview was that he wanted to stay in Portland. He said straight out that what's most important to him is being a part of system he feels comfortable and be successful in, rather than just getting paid.

Take this excerpt from Crabbe's interview for example, "You know, it doesn't make sense to make a lot of money and go to a team that if you don't fit that system, then what? Get paid a lot of money and be frustrated? That doesn't make sense to me."

Doesn't necessarily mean someone can't sweet talk Crabbe, telling him he can start on "their" team, how they'll bend over backwards for him, but I don't know if he'd feel comfortable in that sort of role.

I think our greatest asset in free agency will be Dame. To me, he appears to be a lobbier. Nice to have a leader who wants to lead. We didn't have it with Walton, Drexler, Sheed or Zach. We had it with B-Roy...damn, now I'm back to my fantasy where Brandon is playing in the same backcourt as Dame...sigh...

P.S. Fuck LaMarshmallow. Go OKC.

Now that the season's over.... the default qoute becomes Paulie's line in Good Fellas.

"F--k You. Pay me!"

What about a home town discount?

"F-ck you. Pay me!"

I'd be the same way actually.

Dame has said in interviews that he won't actively recruit....or something like that. I hope he is just understating his role in landing players

I think he'll lobby his current teammates to stay. There's a difference between the two.
