I am going to catch a lot of flack, but why not do this trade. Kemp would have more upside than CC given all that has happened in the past. There are pitchers who are a dime a dozen that can give you a 5+ era. I would be for it. Put Kemp in RF and let him help balance the lefty righty lineup.

MB - I know I saw some article on ESPN where the writer suggested CC for Kemp made sense for both teams. I guess if the Yankees can land Tanaka, and maybe re-sign Kuroda - maybe they push for it. I know the Dodgers have a stacked OF, and probably would be willing to move one of them, but would they trade Kemp?

CC pretty much stunk all season and was eaten alive by the Red Sox & Rays we'd hope he does better. If anything a CC for Kemp trade could lead to other moves. Kemp has always seemed on the fragile side but when good he is good. Like to see the Yankees land Tanaka but as far as Kuroda let him walk. Dude just stunk in the final weeks of the second half.

It has been mentioned in a couple of rags, and as a result I was stating I would do that trade. The money is about right and the potential upside is better. I don't share the faith that others have in CC. I like him as a player, good guy, but all those innings may be coming home to roost. don't think he can locate the way say Mussina did to extend his career.

...I actually like the idea, but I just don't know how LA would see it...but crazier things have happened.

Now that they have signed Haren I don't see it happening. I was hoping for a righty to balance the lineup that could provide power and defense...

How about CC (with Yanks picking up some salary), Nova, Gardner and Heathcott (or Mason Williams) for Kershaw.

Now, THAT'S a trade!

...what, as opposed to "and your point is?"...and "yawn"?

...yeah, great imagination, Mensa.

Thank you very much. And now I'll include Sanchez (and remove Mason Williams) in the Kershaw trade.

...you should get on the phone right away and bounce that off Cashman and Colletti...a trade that helps both teams and hurts both teams. And in the meantime find a replacement for Nova and Gardner.

Replace Gardner with Ichiro while looking to fill CF from within the organization OR *ELSEWHERE after 2014.
Kershaw is great starting block to rebuild the staff and I'll take my chances trying to fit together the rest of the starting staff in the coming season and 2015. Take it or leave it.....that's what I would do.
And if by chance the Yanks do acquire the young Japanese pitcher for the upcoming season......never mind, I don't want to make things too complicated for you. Good chance Kuroda will also return for this season.

* I believe the Yanks could, should be able to acquire/find another competent CF within 2-3 years.
Gardner is not going to break this deal for me. Thank you very much.

...lol...yeah, like I said, a trade that helps and hurts both teams...it makes perfect sense...I can see LA jumping all over that trade. Hey, do you think we could convince LA to also throw in Puig in exchange for Wells and Cervelli?

you'll never be able to prove the "trade" wouldn't make both teams better.

And thanks for constantly showing us your good side.

...I'll ask again, who exactly is "us" and when did you start speaking for them?

umm.....It is out there for all who can see....YES? NO?

Or maybe "they" close their eyes ?

Duh !

Yeah just what the Dodgers want to do. Send the Yankees perhaps the best pitcher in the game.

I don't expect the Dodgers to trade Kershaw and of course I don't blame them.
I was just kind of cancelling the Kemp trade with a half serious proposal of my own regarding a possible Yankee/Dodger trade.
It's more interesting attempting to pry a star player from a team with a package of GOOD players and/or prospects who can fill a couple of holes for the other team. We are "playing" GM aren't we? This isn't heart surgery.

It won't be the first time a team has put together a very good/outstanding package to lure away a star player.

They usually call it a blockbuster trade.

Hey '59.... With the Dodgers already taking on huge salaries....who do you think you are to personally criticize me for half jokingly proposing a hypothetical Yankee/Dodger trade involving Kershaw.

Are you trying to say the Dodgers WOULD NEVER TRADE Kershaw for the "right package" ?

Speak up.... Tell the board.......

Lets get to the bottom of this.... I'm just playing GM and kind of shooting the breeze but it seems to me you're the type of fellow who takes himself much too seriously. I would tell you to grow up but I think Its too late for that.

...you make no sense...first you say you were "half joking" about the trade but you expect me to take you completely serious and that I should not "laugh" at the joke part.

...and yes, I'm saying there's no way the Dodgers would do that trade and neither would the Yanx.

...as far as your personal barbs, I won't dignify them with a reply.

Obviously, someone (me) suggesting an attempt to acquire Kershaw knows it's a huge long shot and probably falls under the "pie in the sky" category.
Of course I was just throwing it out there hoping someone else (just for the sake of curiosity) would play GM along with me including yourself.
I'll give it a try (just for the heck of it) as I do respect your baseball knowledge:

You're the Dodger GM, I'm the Yankee GM.....we're just shooting the breeze. Kershaw's name comes up and I ask you (HALF SERIOUSLY with tongue in cheek),
"How about if I offered you so and so, and so and so, and/or this guy or that guy for Kershaw".

59', without being ridiculous and asking for the whole Yankee team and farm system- what would you ask for in return?

By the way'59, if you care to play GM along with me and answer the proposal, let me just say that if you replied:

"You don't have enough on your team or farm system to get Kershaw"--- I would totally understand.

...OK, OK, I'll play along. I'm the Dodger GM, you're the Yankee GM...........I just instructed my receptionist not to accept any more phone calls from you.

Even a half joking attempt anyone would see this didn't work. Why on earth, even in a drunkin stupor would LA give up the best pitcher in the game. Never heard Atlanta invest any time looking to see what Greg Maddox was worth. Just doesn't make sense.
