Man, the Kings signed Keegan, alone, to 30 less million than Portland signed both of their players.

Me thinks the Kings might have overpaid.
While I'm not a Keegan fan, to be fair his contract was for 5 years vs the 4 year deals that Sharpe and Toumani signed.

Deni is still under contract for 3 more seasons & a very very team friendly deal. He ain’t going anywhere
My only concern is, with such a low salary final season….can’t we only offer him so much? Other teams offer more?

Joe is putting together a really nice roster with a bunch of young talent on value contracts. I'm really happy for Shaedon and Toumani. Those are two seemingly very nice guys and they just signed deals giving them generational wealth if they manage it well.

It's a great day to be a Blazers fan!

Incorrect. Portland is only limited in what they offer in an extension (while he's still under contract)

Once he hits FA, Portland will be able to offer more than any other team... but that will likely be immaterial since I don't see Deni being a max contract type player.

But regardless Portland will have every ability to oay Deni what he's worth

The Blazers won't be able to extend him at a salary that's worth it for Deni, so they will have to roll the dice and let his contract play out, but they can also offer him more and go over the cap to keep him. I'd guess it's about 50/50 they are able to get a deal done when the time comes but that's also three seasons from now and a ton is going to change over that time.

Really nice deals for both Shae and Tou ... less than what most people thought they'd get and wrap them up for another 4 years. Those two along with Deni give you the wings for the next three seasons and a chance to build something. Now need to find a little more shooting and pray that Scoot takes a big step forward this season.

We are limited in extensions. There are no limits once Deni is in free agency though, PDX can offer the same or more than any other team.

Hopefully we do what’s necessary to lock Deni up next,
Unlikely. A Deni extension (while he's under contract) would have to be based on the amount of his last year currently under contract [or the MLE amount].
Since it's not a rookie extension, Portland would be limited to 140% of that salary.

For quick numbers, the first year salary of the extension could be:
$12M (Deni's '27-'28 salary) * 140% = $16.8M
or
~$15M (MLE) * 140% = $21M

For Portland to be able to pay Deni more, either
1) Portland has to be UNDER the salary cap (not happening with the extensions), or
2) Wait until July '28 when Deni is an UFA. (most likely scenario).

Grant is on the Blazers cap until 2028 as well. If Deni is still backing up Grant until then yeah maybe he wants to go elsewhere.

Assuming the Blazers don't continue that idiocrasy I'd think its a very high chance the Blazers and Deni agree to a deal. If Deni wants to go elsewhere he will say so at or before Feb2028 and the Blazers would just trade him.

After looking at the Sac/Murry seal…..I’m VERY pleased with these contracts!

its not every day you get to read actual impressive news about a Blazer signing, trade, or extension - but today is one of those days. really good contract extensions! Deni will be interesting, but we are slowly locking in window of opportunity that wont albatross us.

A somewhat bitter Suns article regarding the Camara extension. See it here (excerpts below):

PHOENIX — Just ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season, the Phoenix Suns took part in a three-team trade that sent Damian Lillard to Milwaukee and Deandre Ayton to Portland.

Little did they know that a young forward by the name of Toumani Camara would wind up being arguably the biggest asset out of that trade in just two years time.

Fast-forward to the week before the 2025-26 season, and Camara signed a four-year, $82 million contract extension with the Trail Blazers on the heels of an All-Defensive season.

The former No. 52 overall pick is yet another thorn on the side of a tumultuous half-decade of disappointment for the franchise, and news of his lucrative extension drew some salty reactions from Suns fans.

Fallout From The Suns Trade

The aforementioned three-team trade was highlighted by sending Lillard to the Bucks to team up with Giannis Antetokounmpo, but the aftermath hasn’t really worked out for anyone.

Lillard is now back with Portland (ironically with Jrue Holiday). Ayton was a disappointment in Portland and the franchise basically paid him to leave and sign with the Lakers. Jusuf Nurkic was traded to Charlotte by the Suns during last season’s debacle.

Camara alone makes the Trail Blazers a de-facto winner of the trade two seasons later.
