Raw data once suggested Outlaw and Gay were equal players

Raw data is obviously not the be-all, end-all

Uhhh Gay is not really that good. Overhyped. It's why Memphis decided to let him go.

Raw data still suggested those two were equals.

Raw data suggests Hickson is better than Monroe and = Aldridge

Lol at raw data

No.

In the NBA you want quality. Aldridge is obviously the best player in that group.
Well, for the sake of circumventing a pointless argument I'll give you that. But the difference isn't THAT great. And it still stands that the Millsap/Monroe combo would have more combined talent than the LMA/FA Center combo. So if you want quality, you go Millsap/Monroe.

Raw data includes stuff that your brain can't comprehend. OWS/DWS/WS/ORtng/DRtng....

PER just tells part of the story.

I'll always take the best player.

Aldridge is a 2x all-star that an create his own shot and demands a double. You want those kind of guys in the playoffs.

Being an all-star doesn't get you any bonus points in the playoffs.

Yup, and Millsap/Monroe > LMA/FA Center.
I'm out - Happy VD!

I want to know about Monroe's character. Is he willing to play his natural position, center, or is he a prima donna like that Aldridge guy I hear about?

That I can agree on. Monroe isn't that much of that dominating defensive center though, FYI

It's not about being dominating. It's about being a reliable defensive player able to make the correct reads in a split second. I can live with that.

You would be fine trading Aldridge for a player like that? I wouldn't

Well that's fine; but Monroe doesn't give us the value we send. Sorry but I don't see anything that could sway me the other way.

First, it wouldn't be a one-for-one swap. Second, you would want at least equal value in return.

Dude's got a DRtg of 102 on a team that isn't a good defensive team. He also has a DWS of 2.5, which is both handily better than Aldridge. Their PER's are essentially the same. I don't understand why that proposal is insane like you think. A top 5 Center in the league who is 5 years younger than Aldridge, a much better defender and just a hair less effective offensively and a better passer out of the post. To top it off you get a young glue guy like Singler to bolster the bench and a helluva backup PG in Bynum.

Aldridge is a fine player. But, some of you act like he's some kind of superstar who's going to piggy back this team to the promise land.
