The Sheriff has arrived!

"For weeks, Ezeli and All-Star point guard Damian Lillard had exchanged a little playful trash-talking about Ezeli's return. Lillard let his beastly new teammate know he would be coming for him on Day 1, that he would pick just the right moment to drive and dunk on him. But Ezeli, who blocked 50 shots in 46 games with the Golden State Warriors last season and is regarded as an exceptional defender, had other plans and suggested that Lillard rethink his plan.

As fate would have it, the weeks-long banter was put to the test in the first play of the first 4-on-4 half-court drill Monday. Lillard drove toward the rim and elevated. Ezeli skied with him and rejected the shot."

Sounded like fan fiction until I clicked the link. There's a new Sheriff in Town!

That's probably why they let Barrett go... he was going to try to say Steve Blake added 15 lbs of muscle.

Lol. And who knows what else.....

Damn, I am SO pumped on this news. Trash talking (good natured) with Dame, and backs it up. He wanted to come here (buys a one way airline ticket...). Sure, maybe he didn't have any other offers, but who cares? Limit him to 10-15 minutes a game, then when the playoffs come, unleash the beast. YEE HAAAAA!!!!

We talking about practice man, not a game, we're talking about practice.
Oh yeah, I agree. However, this is the first significant news that we've gotten that supports how he may help us, since he signed with us. Great news to FINALLY get!

Damn. Dame getting killed by this injury-prone scrub center?

Fuck, he's regressed. Dame is overrated - season over. We're tied to
His huge contract. We're so screwed.

(That's my mixum impression - did I nail it?)

I was about ready to block your ass..... Lol

Nobody here thought that we should pursue Ezeli as our top summer talent obtainable, up here in the undesirable Pacific Northwest, and skip the famous big man free agents (Hassan Whiteside, Dwight Howard, Chandler Parsons). If anyone could evaluate talent like that, the Blazers should hire that poster as a scout and pay him $100,000 per year.

What's that have to do with this? He finally made some news from a good practice, and that's a great thing....

Everytime he ever looks good from now on, it's all to my credit. Think of me everytime he does well.

LMAO..... Ok, you got it! I hope it happens a lot. (but not like in a gay kind of way. Not that there is anything wrong with being gay. Just, well....IMA just gonna shut up for now...)

You recognize that dude's post was a play on AI's "we talkin' 'bout practice" rant, FAMS?!?!

So......? Your point.....?

Nobody thought we'd get Ezeli for the price we did. At the price we paid, if we get anything, I'll be shocked. Clearly his knees are done.

Mozgov got, what, $64 mil? People were expecting Ezeli to get that kinda money. I'd rather pay Ezeli, what, $8 mil to sit than Mozgov $16 mil to play. Think about that.

FAMS.

I did! Late last season, I made a Word document of my desired roster changes. Still have it. I'll just copy the 2 big changes I wanted.

C
new mediocre giant natural center, bigger but less agile than Plumlee
SF
new star-level shooter-dribbler

I expected a true SF star, not a Celtic sub like Turner. And I wanted a center bigger than Plumlee, with the agile Plumlee to move to PF. The new center could be less talented than Plumlee, just make him full Center-sized, taller and wider than Plumlee. Olshey identified the same key weaknesses as I did, but got a poor man's version at SF of what I wanted.

I also called repeatedly for us to sign a defensive-oriented backup center from a California team we faced in the playoffs who ended up getting a $7m/year deal. Just not the injury prone one.

I'm hoping for the best from the one we got, but keeping my eyes on the other guy as well.

So......? Your point.....?

My point is that I got it right and you got it wrong! While you Hollywood star chasers pursued bigger game last Spring to become our 2016-17 Center, I posted repeatedly that Ezeli, whom you all considered trivia, was The Man!

Do not question my expertise, ever!

I remember watching reruns of Gunsmoke as a kid and thinking we should get Festus.

That is before jlprk wanted Festus.

I win.

For Matt Dillon's sidekick, I used to watch Chester (played by Dennis Weaver until 1964). I hear that later, Festus (Ken Curtis) played the sidekick. The show went on for about a generation more. Then another generation passed and it was shown in reruns. Then you started wearing diapers. Then you got old and watched some reruns.

I've heard of this Johnny-come-lately Festus but it was eons after my time...you use him as an example of what you think is ancient history? You probably don't even remember when we all had big sharp teeth.
