Instead of Rudy Gay & Andrea Bargnani for combined $31M in 2014-15, Raptors got Lowry, Patterson, Vasquez & Lou Williams for ~ same price

Lowry and Vasquez are good, Patterson and Lou Will......not so much.

ive always liked lou will, but i think his speed is deserting him a little bit, now he is just a short sg

to be honest though, id rather have lowrey and 19 million in cap room than those other 3

I don't care how much Carmelo makes, or even if he lives or dies, but those tax numbers don't strike me as correct. The jock tax has to be paid to the other income-tax states (incl. Oregon) no matter what state your home team is in. So I don't see how that's zero for NY and small for IL. Also, that reduces the amount of home-state tax paid (since Carmelo isn't earning NY income when he plays in Portland).

I don't know about next season, but Durant in a couple of years

You seem to be forgetting that the clippers are now relevant. What you have seen in the past few years is the Lakers descent to the bottom, where the Clippers used to be; Hollywood really ain't big enough for the both of them. Unfortunately lakers fans will become clippers fans and the clippers will become as hated as the lakers.

6.5 for a backup pg is cheap?

I think Vasquez could easily be a starter in the league. Really I was looking at the two years. That's a pretty short contract. I thought he'd get a full MLE deal with the stupid money being thrown around.

I dunno. Maybe on a crap team he could start. But pg is such a deep position in the league, I couldn't see someone wanting to pay him to start him.

More than anything, while I don't mind him, it just seems like too much to pay for a backup when there's plenty of guys who can fill the role for cheaper.

I think you get good value in the league at the max contract level (usually, for true max guys), and at mle and below. Too often anything in between is an overpay for someone replaceable.

I've definitely come to realize why Neil was targeting next summer to have cap space. There were simply too many teams with ridiculous coffers this summer. Some guys were given contracts they really didn't deserve. I have no idea how Channing Frye is worth the kind of deal he signed.

Makes you wonder how much Mathews will get on his next contract deal?

'Melo has remained in contact with some players/coaches/execs. He's not tipping hand, just giving vague responses about making his decision.

It really seems like nothing is going to happen until LeBron makes a decision.

I tell Jlprk he's so full of shit his eyes are brown at least once a month and I've never heard a word about it except for a chuckle between the 2 of us.

Mind if I use that one?

@MySportsLegion: Raptors have reached a two year deal with James Johnson.>>>>>>

He actually looked decent last year.

I want Bron to return to CLE, but if he goes to MIA, HOU will take a legitimate hit.

Because Bron --> MIA, will mean Bosh --> MIA, will mean HOU will match the Mavs' offer for Parsons and will pay him 15+ mil instead of 900k (Cuban = #likeaboss), and put an effective end to their hopeless chase for stars. Oh and they just gave up Asik for nothing.

So in effect, their cap situation will be significantly worse and their roster will be weaker. HAHAHAHAHA @ Morey. Egg on face.
