I did a little refreshing of history a couple nights ago, remembering Thomas Jefferson had considerable trouble with the press.
But while he bitch like hell about it, he didn't think any laws should be passed by the Federal government to correct the situation.
He explained that the protection provided in the 1st amendment must remain and any correction of the press must be done by the States, not the Federal government.
States have the power to address slander, sedition, and seditious slander.

But fast forward to this day. The media of today verses the press of yesterday is not under the control of any State. So no authority has jurisdiction over the media
to insure they do not commit offenses that are beyond the protections intended in the 1st amendment.

Trump is the first guy bigger than they can't reach (so far), the first big enough to play their slanderous game.

Another Democrat agitprop outlet banned from Friday’s press briefing was very fake CNN. This is the CNN of Jake Tapper, a politician with a press pass, to use the late New York mayor Ed Koch’s description of an earlier bought-and-paid-for partisan.

Tapper used to flack for a Democrat Congresswoman named Mezvinsky. Her husband, another hack solon, went to prison for massive bank fraud. Their son is married to Chelsea Clinton, whose parents used to employ George Stephanopoulos, now a $13-million-a-year “journalist” for ABC “News.”

ABC also employs Martha Raddatz, who was once married to the son of JFK’s bootlicking sycophant Ben Bradlee, and whose second marriage was attended by none other than Barack Obama. Remember on election night how Martha was losing it, her voice cracking, as she reported on the loss of her idol, St. Hillary?

Among those blasting Trump for his anti-fake news tirades is Chuck Todd of NBC, who is yet another Democrat hack masquerading as a reporter. Todd used to work for ex-Sen. Tom Harkin, another stolen-valor Democrat senator. (Harkin bragged about having been a combat pilot in Vietnam — a total lie.)

As moderator of “Meet the Press,” Todd succeeded David Gregory, now at very-fake-news CNN. Gregory’s wife is a lawyer who last year represented four of Hillary’s aides in the FBI investigation that was bagged after Bill Clinton met on the tarmac of the Phoenix airport with Obama’s attorney general. (That story was broken by a local TV reporter in Arizona, because the pajama boys in the White House press corps never, ever break stories about Democrat corruption.)

The head of that alleged FBI “probe,” by the way, was a G-man named Andrew McCabe, whose wife ran in 2015 as a Democrat candidate for the Virginia state senate. During her bust-out run, Mrs. G-man took $467,000 from Gov. Terry McAuliffe, an ex-Clinton, uh, bundler, who in 1999 put up $1.35 million for the purchase of their fabulous mansion in Chappaqua, N.Y.

Just remember, these are the paragons of ethics and morality who say Donald Trump is corrupt.​

There are plenty of wealthy, intelligent people who use their power to benefit humanity...and some of those in your list do....you talk about Martha Raddatz as if she's never been on the front lines of war zones....she's a seasoned reporter, not a gold digging spin doctor..I have a lot of respect for her body of work...it's always a good thing to not lump an entire demographic into an evil conspiracy from where I stand....pick a battle...I criticize Trump from his own actions and words....I don't criticize some of his cabinet members I actually respect....at this point I think Pence is the president and I think we all know power and wealth corrupt...I just say that corruption isn't driving the resistance to Trump....it's Trump that's driving that resistance. Everywhere, not just here. How folks can not be embarrassed to be represented by him baffles me.

Specifically, AP’s Steve Peoples notes that Senate Democrats up for re-election in states that President Trump carried on Election Day just don’t want to show up.

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), for one, sent a staff member rather than attend a Kansas City town hall last weekend. She will chat with voters this week via Facebook Live — a much more controlled environment, where angry mass shouting isn’t an option.

Sens. Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND), Bob Casey (D-Pa.), Bill Nelson (D-Fla.), Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) have also dodged town-hall gatherings, the AP reports — opting instead for teleconferences, e-mail surveys and speeches.

All this, when Republicans — including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) — have taken the heat, allowing left-leaning constituents to rage in their faces over plans to repeal ObamaCare, Trump’s immigration orders and so on.

All this is shocking – but in Sweden nowadays, not so surprising.
