TriMet's Free Rail Zone in downtown Portland? Gone.
A ticket to ride? Up -- again.
Bus service? Cut. Again.
Meeting in an abandoned credit union building scheduled to be demolished for the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Line, TriMet's board unanimously approved a plan Wednesday that one opponent called "economic warfare" on transit riders.
"It hasn't been easy," said Bruce Warner, board chairman. "And the service cuts and fare increases are definitely going to be felt by a number of folks."

Like my girlfriend said "This just means they will have to hire more tri-met officials to ask for tickets in the old fareless zone"

That kind of sucks for Blazer games. I always park near Lloyd Center and take the max to the RG.

I park near Lloyd Center too, then walk to the RG. Not a tough walk by any stretch. I'm torn on the whole fareless square thing... on one hand, the only people who used it frequently were transients, so in that respect not having to smell them is ostensibly nice, but on the other hand that means that the only people TriMet can ticket are already broke and homeless, which doesn't do them much good.

I take Tri-Met every day to work (two busses and a max ride from SE to Nike). Even if tickets or monthly passes (which I use) doubled in price, it'd be cheap compared to gas ($200/month), insurance ($100/month), and a car payment ($250/month) for a second car. So I'm not down on them for raising prices.

Anyway... it's a complicated thing.

I park on 3rd and Morrison in the SmartPark for $5, grab some dinner at BWW, and then walk to Yamhill and 2nd and take the Max to the game. It will still be cheaper, though. Isn't a 4 hour one-zone pass less than $2 still?

Of all the great places to eat dinner in downtown Portland before a game you choose Buffalo Wild Wings?

its before a fucking basketball game, where is he going to eat, Ruth's Chris every time?

ate at Rock Bottom for the first time ever after a Timbers game this year. 2 AM Burger was quite good.

I probably wouldn't eat at Buffalo Wild Wings. maybe grab a beer if there are sluts at the bar, but that's about it.

yeah, I'm not a big fan normally, though I feel like their happy hour prices on some stuff is pretty decent, so not a terrible place to stop before the game I suppose.

Last I heard it was 2.50 and it expired after 90 minutes (not sure on the time exactly)

this kind of blows. i like just hopping on and hopping off. so lame if i want to take the streetcar from downtown to the pearl i'd have to pay? blah.

There are other NBA games always on the TVs there, plus there are a ton of people who go to the game there.

I won't go to Ringside before a game. That's for other occasions. :)

More Tapout gear type folks at BWW. The scenery is much better at the aforementioned places.

Huh? I'm not looking for scenery. I'm looking for a beer, some wings, and a crown for my daughters before the game.

I didn't realize this thread became all about me, but I'm not surprised that my biggest fan is driving it.

I like bringing my daughters to downtown PDX, and we ride the Max in the free zone and explore the city. For $6 more, I'll bite, though.

Ummm you realize that I was quoting someone elses post?

Not everything's about you, as much as you think it is.

I choose the other places because they have way better food and atmosphere. BWW is a farce. If I get invited to watch a sporting event there, its a quick, no thanks.

Eh, sorry that I shared my pregame Max routine with my kids.

Carry on not thinking nor posting about me.
