Nate saying that parents that called their kids liars deserve some blame doesn't seem too much like your description of "real Americans" or whatever the fuck it was.

Should the parents be arrested or ostracized? Nope, but people can learn from them if they made mistakes.

I really can't fathom underage girls being left alone with a male doctor EVER but maybe I'm naive and it happens all the time.

The truly scary part is that some of the sexual abuse happened WHILE THE PARENTS WERE IN THE ROOM. How does that even happen?

I didn't really pay much attention to this story. Curious to see how his prison time goes.

a doctor stuck his pinky in my nut sack when i was younger. just to clear me for basketball.

Because parents don't know what is legitimate medical practice and what isn't. Reading an article about it a few weeks ago, apparently he used an 'inter-vaginal" therapy for certain muscular issues and there are such therapies, but not for the things he was using it for and not how he did it. But a parent wouldn't know that.

And, honestly, a lot of people--most people--have an aversion to question authorities.

I have two sons and spent most of their grade school years coaching them in baseball and basketball. This stretches back almost 30 years and things have changed since then (and not for the better obviously). And I always tried to communicate right up front with the parents over any issues or concerns that they (or myself) might have so they didn’t get blown out of proportion.

I rarely had any issues with kids or parents (other than about playing time) and sometimes I felt like I was going overboard, but sometimes (not too often...but often enough) a kid would be the rudderless child of clueless and oblivious parents, and while they were on my watch they were my responsibility. And all these years later no one can EVER come down the pike and accuse me or my assistants of anything other than the best of intentions......

Yeah, I did the coach thing for Pop Warner football and also Basketball about 40 years ago. Playing time and position the kid plays was the thing that got the parents upset. A couple years back I took on Basketball coach for my Grandsons team when they did not have a coach. Damn! It was a 130 miles each way to practice and games for me!

But armed with past experience, I had a plan. I roped in the first two fathers that had a bitch and the next one to boot. Had them helping at the practices, and then assisting at the game. I continued on for the first two games, then called in. They had the job. Heh heh! The boys had a coach and I was please to have help convert some noisy dads in to contributors.:cool2:

I had those kids running the Princeton too. Well, sort of. But it devolved into helter skelter ball as the dads took over. But it was fine with me.
Now it is one thing that the parents don't know about the Princeton offense or what ever, but just letting this Creep do what ever he wishes as a Dr. ?
Not understandable. There was some sort of reality disconnect going on there.

Dr. Jamie Bartley, an osteopathic urologist for Beaumont Health Systems in metro Detroit, performs manual examinations of pelvic floor muscles inside the vagina, and sometimes refers patients with back, hip or pelvic pain to physical therapists for pelvic floor therapy.

She and Dr. J. Bryan Dixon, a sports-medicine doctor in Marquette, said it is important practitioners explain the procedure to patients and get their consent before performing intravaginal manipulations.

"In some patients, it's definitely indicated and very helpful, as long as it's performed with mutual consent," Bartley said.

If even doctors consider this an issue that's tough to talk about definitively, there's no way a parent is going to know if what he's doing is a proper technique or not. Considering he was a highly-respected doctor, most parents aren't going to assume he's a pedophile.

Some people are just bad, and this guy is one of the worst. Serial abuser of young girls over a long period of time. There's absolutely no excusing it or him.

It is mind boggling how he was able to get away with it for so long.

I cannot help but have empathy for the guy who attacked him in court. The man had 3 daughters who were in the program. Scarred for life.
