one of my favorite childhood books, too
You guys have covered many of mine, so I'll just list the ones I didn't already see
The Gulag Archipelago by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson
The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara
The Call of the Wild by Jack London
Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut
The Battle Cry of Freedom by James Mcpherson
The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie
In Praise of Mountain Lions and The Monkey Wrench Gang by Ed Abbey
Walking it Off by Doug Peacock
actually, pretty much anything by Ed Abbey or Doug Peacock is something I truly enjoyed reading. If any of you ever get the itch to read frank, funny, thoughtful and passionate stuff written by a couple of burned out ecoterrorists, those writers are at the top of my recomendations list
and my all-time favorite book (I'm sure no one saw this coming
)
there are many more, but these are my immediate favorites
