Maybe I'm misreading your comment, but the fact they moved from a box to his desk means correspondence may have occured and also invalidates any argument that they were safely stored and never used.

Supposedly, finding classified documents in Trump's own desk drawer with Trump's passports (expired or otherwise) is strong evidence that Donny not only knew the documents were in the desk drawer, but that he handled them/put them there personally. Which thoroughly undermines any claims he might make about not knowing they were there, or never handling them himself, or that his staff put them there. Seems reasonable to me but then, reasonable isn't in the Republican vocabulary. All the actual proof in the world is never going to be enough for his brain dead base.........
