I apologize. I made a promise that I was going to be kinder and gentler in 2022. That said, I never, ever see myself voting for a Democrat. We shall see what the Conservative party has to offer in 2024.
There are several conservative parties....The Constituional Party, Libertarian Party, etc.....there are moderate independents as well. The best conservatives have left the GOP already. Until it cleans obstructionists from it's ranks...the GOP in my view is damaged beyond repair. Honesty doesn't get to lawyer up and hide behind the 5th amendment...it speaks the truth.

We don't know who will run but it won't be anyone who's buried their head in the sand and watched Trump grift the nation. I also won't vote for anyone who I feel is too old or underqualified to represent democracy. I will vote for democracy, bottom line. That leaves out most republican candidates currently. I don't want Joe or Kamala to be the president unless the alternative is a Trumper and not to be trusted...last election I would like to have voted for John Yang but he has zero chance at winning given the targeting oif asians in hate crimes the last few years....unfortunate because that's the type of leadership I'd prefer...someone who doesn't flaunt their ego and rolls up their sleeves and goes to work. I'm voting for equal and civil rights promoting leadership and against propping up white privilege and religious fundamentalism.

What if Michelle Obama were to run?

She won't in my view. She doesn't need that around her life at all. She hasn't once expressed a desire for a political career. That's just people loving her and propping her up. Great woman in my view. She'd get George Bush's vote. Being likeable and articulate doesn't qualify you to be president....although it's an added bonus if you are.

Yeah, Biden could take some notes there.

I have zero interest in the guy...don't waste your cut and paste on me with him.....he's not a viable candidate nor an impressive leader. He's just another GOP mistake.
O Jeez (Fargo)....Thats Cruel. Do want graphic expression?IMG_2483.JPG AIGF (I'll start my own phone text language} All in good fun.

Check Out the Libertarians. That's where I'm going, so far. Perhaps, I'll run for Libertarian president. Johnson failed. I bet I could get 100 votes over him and storm the Libertarian party into 5th place. All that's needed is monetary funding! If I got a vote of confidence from every single member in S2, I would take on this daunting responsibility.

He is an obstinate and immature person, and therefore the more opposition he meets, the stronger his obstinacy becomes. He has also an inordinate fear of ridicule and gossip...He knows that there is neither proof nor evidence, though his mind is so unbalanced that he would not listen if there were.

Not who you think.
It's the introduction to The Winter's Tale, although in Shakespeare the character eventually accepts the truth and repudiates his conspiracy theories. After doing a great deal of harm.

Biden overcame a serious speech impairment to even be as articulate as he is....he has lived with that handicap his whole life..I give anyone credit for fighting through issues like that.

Yea Man. He is so level, that the affliction was overcome by his desire to be a decent politician, senator, then #46. {It's so cruel, I can't drive over and share a Pale Ale or other substitute with you.}13b8dfb3e801d05f309ee00a6cd13efb.jpg

He's POTUS, nonetheless. I think, at this point, his issues go beyond a speech impairment. That said, I don't want to debate Biden's

Wow, nice! Just finished watching the Titans game. :(

We disagree....Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces it the head of the military....does 't matter how he got there...he also gets to put generals and officers he chooses in command positions....no uniform has nothing to do with it but Eisenhower had plenty of uniforms....and military decorations....not saying a civilian couldn't get the job with prior military service...but if they do get the job they're part of the military chain of command...that's just part of their job description though. George Washington, Ike and Grant went from being top generals to president straight from the military as well.
I'm sorry but it's already established and not by me. Remember when Clinton got criticized for saluting his guard when he stepped off Air Force 1?

Well, don't flatter yourself. You ain't the only poster in here. Wait! Are you an imposter?!
No, I am the imposter. I can not only impersonate Riverman's voice but also throw it so it sounds like it's coming from elsewhere. And now, my latest dastardly deed? I've discovered his password and now make more than half his purported posts. Note the argument I'm having with myself over whether the President is a member of the military or not? Oh, clever boy.

As Riverman has noted, blame for Vietnam goes all the way back to Eisenhower. Dig a little deeper. Robert Caro’s (current) three part series on LBJ is enlightening and has been exhaustively researched. Volume Four (dealing more deeply with his presidency) is long overdue (and eagerly awaited). The more Caro dug, the more he found to write about, good, bad or indifferent. LBJ was the last great “politician”. He got things done in the face of opposition because he knew every arcane rule and nuance of the American political system…..and he knew where all the bodies were buried (including those he dug the hole for). He made Mitch McConnell look like a rank amateur politically…..…

Edit: Oops, Eagerly awaiting Volume Five. Caro originally intend a three part series. But when he got to digging, he realized he had wildly underestimated. LBJ was a very complex individual. Unlike Trump…………….

I'm a guy that enjoys history, especially US history, and had always heard how bad a president LBJ was and then we went to his library in Austin. It really opened my eyes to how much good he did during his time. Now granted I understand the libraries of the presidents are meant to only highlight the good, but when combined with my previous views, I left there having a much greater understanding of the man and president. He might have been a sleezeball in life but he accomplished quite a bit of good during his time as well.

LBJ was destroyed by his own pride. He did do a lot of positive things, but he knew the US could not "win" the Vietnam war. But he said he would not be the first American president to lose a war. Robert McNamara and others revealed that while in public they talked about light at the end of the tunnel in private they knew US getting ass kicked. Kept prolonging and escalating at horrible cost.

Can you guys name the US presidents that actually served in our military from WW2 onwards??

Truman (served in WWI, was president at the end of WWII), Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush Sr, Bush Jr

But, if you mean actually served as in fought overseas, W. and Reagan never left the states.

Johnson volunteered immediately after Pearl Harbor (like so many other Americans) but it was as much for political reasons as patriotic reasons. He only spent about 6 months in uniform. He went on one bombing run in the South Pacific (more to get a combat ribbon than anything) which was aborted due to mechanical problems. On the way back to base they were attacked by Zeros and pretty well shot up (The plane he was supposed to be on was shot down with no survivors….all because Johnson had to take a preflight dump and someone else took his place). Upon returning to base, Lyndon changed his underwear and requested a transfer back home. And for his mission of personal aggrandizement he was awarded a Silver Star (??!!???). Politicians sure like to pad their (and each other’s) resumes while those around them are actually doing all the heavy lifting……

Reagan never left his air conditioned office.

Better than 15 to one casualties is hardly what I would call getting our ass kicked. The NVA and especially the Viet Cong attacked in mass and got mowed down. Their strategy was to overwhelm the Americans which occasionally worked. Every time they scored a costly win the American public couldn't take it and wanted out of an endless exchange of life which the Vietnamese were prepared to sacrifice while we wore definitely not prepared to take our 70,000 or more deaths. I lost friends over there and understand our desire to not have more sacrifice. It was very painful for us. Now imagine how painful it was for the Vietnamese who lost an order of magnitude more while having a much smaller population than us. Now that's some grit.

Agreed completely. Wire out a lot of shoes protesting.

I wanted to protest when I got out of the Army. Missed out undoubtedly because of another commitment. The kids that went got the holy shit beat out of them by the cops. Blood everywhere. Happened in the park blocks sometime around 1970 or '71. The park blocks are near Portland State University.

He did join the caravan of movie stars to sell war bonds.
That was only to dart out of his office building and just as quickly to dart back in. Hell, staying outside you could accidentally catch a rain drop or suffer some hot air.
