He was playing when I made that post, but has since withdrawn. He is going to play the warmup games versus Canada, and the USA though. Australia v USA in front of 50,000 should be good, and considering the number of US withdrawals, I’d give Australia a good chance of victory.

Now Simmons has withdrawn from the exhibition games as well.

Reading between the lines, the Aussie coach didn’t want him playing the exhibition games if he wasn’t playing at the World Cup.

Now Australia can prepare properly without having to worry about integrating a player who isn’t going to be there for the real stuff.

Team USA were comprehensively swept off the floor by the Select Team 36-17 in a 10 minute session that was unfortunately open to the media. It wasn’t a fluke either with Team USA going down twice to their lesser opponents.

After handfuls of stars bowed out of Team USA, the team before heading out to play Spain this weekend was destroyed 36-17 in a scrimmage with a G league team coached by Jeff Van Gundy and led by guard John Jenkins.
