I’m very nervous about this Australia v Czech Republic game. Australia tends to play to the level of their opponents, so no easy games.

When's the last time team USA did not win a medal ??

Damn Serbia is out too.... let's go all the way

Sports center keeps talking about shocking, upset, etc..

Was it? I don't think so

I have a biased opinion obviously but I don't think it was. France has a very good team with lots of NBA players including the DPOY and one of the best Euroleague player, and team USA was the weakest I had ever seen it.

It might be a small upset but they are talking about it like It was massive and utterly shocking...

1980 Moscow Olympics, but they boycotted.

1978 World Champions they came 5th.

Well team USA had won 58 straight games and not lost in an actual game in 13 years.

I think they lost a couple official games some months ago but for some reason people don't count them.

58 straight World Cup/Championship games? Because they lost to Australia a couple of weeks ago.

Halftime
Aus 33 - 30 Cze

Refs currently allowing a more physical game than the Australia v France game.

in a friendly. I watched that game.

Foreshadowing for sure.
So if the Blazers lose a preseason game, they haven’t lost since the WCF?

A loss in a friendly is still a loss.

It could be argued that the loss isn’t as important, and I’d agree; but it’s still a loss.

I'm just repeating what I heard on radio. And ESPN

The third quarter has been Australia’s worst quarter at this World Cup, but they won this one 30-18.

Hopefully people stop claiming that Pop is one of the GOAT coaches now.

Spain v Australia will be the first time they’ve met since the bronze medal game of the Rio Olympics.

Australia came out of that game feeling very aggrieved by the refereeing.

This could be a very fiery game.

That's like saying Larry Brown isn't great because he lost in 2004 in the Olympics. Give those coaches time to, you know, COACH and maybe they can make a good team.

Team USA didn't have the best player in the tournament, or even today's game, but they had the strongest squad, and if they'd had the time playing together that Australia and France have, they would've been a lot harder to beat. They were also hampered because one of their best scorers (Tatum) was out.

Key matchup: Claver vs. Ingles!

Let's name the never-in-the-NBA (to rule out Scola, e.g.) tournament team:

G: Campazzo (ARG), Corey Webster (NZL), Stefan Jovic (SRB), Sergio Llull (SPA)
F: Mateusz Ponitka (POL), Isaac Fotu (NZL)
C: Guna Ra (AKA Ricardo Ratliffe) (KOR)

Others?

Meh. Pop is the most over-rated coach of all time.

I wish the time difference wasn't so bad but I'm enjoying this FIBA game a lot. 10 minute quarters, and a lot more physical. The centers aren't neutered with bullshit rules to favor perimeter players either. The NBA is full of athletes, but it's genuinely become soft compared to the international game.
