How the hell can we bring Gobert to the Blazers

Too late now. I remember his video before the draft where a lot of posters on this board were not impressed because of the competition he was playing against, despite how well he moved for a big man. oooops.

Wow, Spain really do know how to shit the bed.

Now, the only way to beat this for an upset is if USA loses to ANYbody. Go Lithuania!

Prediction for the final: USA over Serbia.

(France beat Serbia on a very controversial last play in group play. Just as France got revenge on Spain, I can see Serbia getting revenge on France.)

Gelebale was +21 for France! He last played in the NBA for Minnesota, didn't he? Back when he had braids. He's a pretty good 3-and-D guy - I'd be happy to have him over Dorrell Wright. He seems always to be cool.

How the fuck did France outrebound Spain 50-28?? Maybe play Ibaka more than 18 minutes? Maybe play Felipe Reyes more than ZERO minutes?

Actually, now I think it was the Sonics. Which shows how long it's been. And it turns out he's 31, so never mind.

He's a teammate of Koponen's at BC Khimki.

Here is the crazy story I remember about him:

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-b...dreadlocks-health-reasons-002446735--nba.html

In the last two seasons, Gelabale suffered constant muscle injuries because of his famous look. The weight of the dreadlocks can cause bad posture, which can generate injuries. They can even alter the way a person runs. Experts believe this hairstyle can be harmful. Not in the short run, but over a long period of time.
The explanation is simple. Wearing this hairstyle for years could have changed Gelabale's center of gravity. When hair is pulled back, the player must correct the displacement by working neck muscles. Over time, this unnatural gesture degenerates into continuous ailments.
It is not the first something like this has happened. French National Team teammate Joakim Noah was advised by Bulls doctors to cut his hair. The rebellious center refused to lose his ponytail, one of his hallmarks. In Chicago they have put the hair on shirts. […]
Athletes, of course, can wear their hair as they wish, but they must be prepared. It requires large muscles in the upper body and strong legs to bear the burden of the hair without harming their necks.

I'm calling bullshit on that hair story. Hair just ain't that heavy. Even this hair:

Now if it's real REAL rasta dreads, with big ol' chunks of stuff in there...

This win by France is much bigger than the win last year in Eurobasket. Here's the boxscore for that game.
Tony Parker played 37 minutes and scored 32 points. Gobert didn't even make the French team. No Pau, Navarro or Ibaka for Spain. Claver played 29 minutes!

My buddy just cut his like 2-3 foot dreadlocks, said they weighed, with beads and shit, 280+ grams. 10 oz.

Great win for France! Spain blew it thought, Victor Claver did not see the court and that is the difference right there

The French Coach, Vincent Collet, probably attracted a lot of NBA attention with this win.

They shit the bed back at the 2007 Eurobasket as well, in the final against Russia. That tournament was also held in Spain... Maybe it's a bit of a disadvantage, all that pressure of being the overwhelming favorite and playing at home.

I want Sergio back, his beard is sexy

I think there are owls living in it.

I never wanted him to leave. But I think he and Rudy are happy on probably the 20th best basketball team on the planet. (And I don't mean the Spanish National team.)

I'll be honest. If it's a matchup of Batum vs Harden in the finals, I'll be rooting hard for France. Woulda been different if Dame made the team.

Why is Harden so hateable? Is it Houston? Is it the asinine comments? Is it the flopping? Now Kobe's got old, he might be the One.

The beard makes him seem really pretentious. And his game is just too ugly. His comments make him seem stupid.

Dude for me it's everything. I hate his shitty play style, and think its bad for the league. That "I'm the best all around player" comment. The fact that he is paid what he is paid but is THAT BAD at defense. I don't really care about the beard...
