FIRE CRONIN

How can we fire him? I thought we're all convinced that Olshey is to blame (and credit) for everything happening right now.
Please, don't be obtuse. The refuse of every fired GM is bad contracts that are usually sent away for less than their value on the court. The hangover lasts for years. I mean, Andrew Nicholson is still on our cap for the ridiculous Allen Crabbe signing.

Turning around a team is like turning around a supertanker unless you get really lucky.

where's Marang crapping on Norman Powell now? The Blazers gave away a solid player for free, just to make the Blazers worse and opposing teams better.

Josh Hart was too expensive? He just signed with the Knicks for 12m, that's peanuts for a highly competitive complimentary player.

We've heard soo many excuses why the Blazers stink. Lillard wanted out, Cronin is a terrible GM.

Cronin won't get fired because the Front Office has only one road to take. Empty stats and ping pong balls.

And empty seats.

He'll get fired when Jody sells the team. So will Chauncey.

Powell didn’t make the Clippers better. His first year, they didn’t make the playoffs. His second year, they lost in the first round. Non-factor.

Josh Hart did not sign with the Knicks for $12 million. He just picked up his option, something he wouldn’t have done in Portland.

Part of Hart doing that was to get DiVincenzo to NYC

Cronin’s job HAS to come to a decision by the time Dame is traded.

Cronin has had so many blunders. If we also trade the best Blazer in 20 years for nothing, get rid of this stench and bring in someone who can actually build a team around Scoot.

If Jody wants to keep Dame could the Blazers fire Cronin?

I tend to think the Blazers don't and didn't want to keep Dame though.

This, if you're going to bash away at least get your facts straight first lol.

Dame wants out man. I don’t think anything is going to change that. But I also have a feeling that Joe has been wanting to rebuild since he took over.

From Zach Harper’s column in The Athletic:

The reason we got here is Neil Olshey built a team that had reached its absolute ceiling and needed a change, and the new front office just didn’t handle that retooling properly. They weren’t wrong for trying to break up a solid team, but the subsequent trades led to a gross mismanagement of this process. That’s how we find ourselves with the Lillard trade request this weekend.

Let’s break down the trades the Blazers have made during the retooling:

Trade with the Clippers, February 2022:

The Blazers sent out Norman Powell and Robert Covington to the Clippers. They got back Eric Bledsoe, Justise Winslow and Keon Johnson along with a 2025 second-round pick.

  • Bledsoe didn’t play a minute for Portland and was waived in July 2022.
  • Winslow has played 40 games for the Blazers since being traded there and is currently a free agent.
  • Johnson has played 62 games for Portland, but has only averaged 15.8 minutes and is shooting 36.6 percent from the field.
Trade with the Pelicans, February 2022:

The Blazers sent CJ McCollum, Larry Nance Jr. and Tony Snell to the Pelicans. They got back Josh Hart, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Tomáš Satoranský, Didi Louzada, a future first-round pick (via Milwaukee) and two second-round picks.

  • Hart played 64 games for them before being traded this past season.
  • Alexander-Walker and Satoranský were traded almost immediately.
  • Louzada played seven games before being waived last summer.
  • The first-rounder was moved in a trade for Jerami Grant.
Trade with the Spurs and Jazz, February 2022:

The Blazers sent Satoranský and Alexander-Walker to the Spurs and Jazz, respectively. They got back Joe Ingles, Elijah Hughes and a 2022 second-round pick.

  • Ingles never played for them and left that summer in free agency.
  • Hughes signed with the Bucks in the summer.
  • The second-round pick became Jabari Walker, who played 619 minutes for them this year. Contract is partially guaranteed through 2025.
Trade with the Pistons, July 2022:

The Blazers sent draft rights to Gabriele Procida (36th pick in 2022), the Bucks’ 2025 top-four protected pick and two second-round picks to the Pistons. They got back Jerami Grant and the draft rights to Ismael Kamagate (46th pick).

  • Grant just averaged 20.5 points on 47.5/40.1/81.3 shooting splits in 63 games last season.
  • They agreed to a five-year, $160 million deal with Grant this summer.
  • Kamagate was sent to Denverfor a future second-round pick.
Trade with the Hawks, Pistons and Warriors, February 2023:

The Blazers sent Gary Payton IIand two future second-round picks out. They got back Kevin Knox and four second-round picks.

  • Knox played 21 games and is a free agent.
  • One of the second-round picks ended up as Rayan Rupert this summer.
Trade with the Knicks, Sixers and Hornets, February 2023:

The Blazers sent out Hart, the rights to Bojan Dubljević, the rights to Dani Diez and two future second-round picks. They got back Matisse Thybulle, Cam Reddish, Ryan Arciadiacano, the rights to Ante Tomić and a first-round pick.

  • Thybulle played 22 games and is a restricted free agent.
  • Reddish played 20 games and signed with the Lakers.
  • Arciadiacano was waived in April.
  • Tomic is 36 years old and still playing in Spain.
  • The first-round pick ended up being Kris Murray.
Maybe the Blazers will keep Thybulle around, but look at how mismanaged so many aspects of these trades have been. Yes, the Blazers did acquire some picks, mostly all of them in the future second rounds.

Somehow Rob Pelinka , can turn an albatross contract into multiple pieces that helped the Cap Strapped Lakers add key vets to turn the Lakers 22-23 season around. But forked tongue Joe can't bring any quality Vets in. You say one thing, and do exactly the opposite. All Dame asked for was some quality vets to be added. I haven't seen one. I don't count Grant because he was added last season. It's about needed additions now. Yet I'm reading all kinds of vile crap about Dame on S2. WTF? No man is an island, but at least Dame tried. Calling Dame a "Judas" is ridiculous , and downright shameful.

Way to go Cronard the Ballbarian. You've managed to weaponize rip city into what America has become. A place to hate each other.

Ironically i think this brings us together.

The Dame fans will show themselves out the door. The Blazer fans will remain and be optimistic about our future. There will no longer be people clutching to what could have been in Dame's prime. It is the Scoot and Sharpe era.

I think since we landed 3 and brooklyn won't take it and ant for mikal. Until then it's build around Dame.

If he wanted to rebuild since he took over, he would not have given Dame the supermax extension last summer.

Disagree, Dame has more trade value now than if he hadn't signed the extension.

But you had the benefit of hindsight. Dame had the best year of his career.

A year ago, he was coming off a surgery. We had no idea he'll do what de did. If he regressed, you'd say the opposite about his contract. If Cronin was not intending to keep Dame all along, I don't think Dame gets the supermax intension.

1080 just played the sound bite of Joe talking about how they were gonna put all the chips in the middle of the table. to Build around Dame. And how some might consider what they did as an overpay, but they were committed. What a crock of shit. So don't hammer Dame for getting fed up. Promises promises.

And that was before we got the third pick. Sorry but we can't afford to piss away valuable assets just to make Dame happy. This is business.

Yep. Take emotions out of it. Why trade a player in Scoot that people think is a sure thing for less just to appease Dame so we make the 5th seed and maybe make it to the second round at best.

It is over. Turn the page. Scoot for ROY.
