If our 2 guards who handle the ball the vast majority of the time are so limited/unwilling to be able to throw an alley-oop pass to any big man when 2-3 defenders converge as they are going to the rim.....

.....then we have a serious problem. It's not that difficult of a skill.
Throwing a good alley oop pass is one of the hardest passes there is, besides maybe behind the back passes. You have to throw a lob apass up, to someone in stride, thats high enough other 7 footers cant get to it but exactly where your team mate is. Its a much harder skill than people make it out to be.
It also takes a really good athlete on the other end who can not just dunk but hang up there long enough to do it.

They should run plays towards the basket though.

But when the 7'er rotates over to Dame/CJ, it's not like there is anyone that big if anyone guarding our Center. Most of the lobs to Capela are uncontested. That makes the pass quite easy.

Harden makes that pass really well and part of it is he’s much taller than our guards. I mean I get what you’re saying. That play Houston runs they run it very well. We havent had a good lob passer since Andre Miller.

Not sure why everyone is so pissed at Olshey. His plan to tank for a lottery pick is going perfectly.

Sadly, the East is so bad, that even if the Blazers fell to #14 in the West, (they are only 2 games away from that spot) they would still only be around #9 or #10 in the overall Lottery. (currently)

You have no faith in the powers of the ping pong balls. If there’s a center with bad knees who’s likely to go in the top three, we’re in like Flynn.

No. The more negative Olshey threads, the better.

Fine fair enough. Besides my dates were off. I was looking at the Stotts thread not the Olshey is Guilt Thread that was just created.

FYI. I think its more on Stott's than Olshey though... OTHER than Olshey letting Stott's do what he does. I dont think Stott's is getting the optimal performance from Olshey's Roster.

It's funny. Prior to the debacle against the Pelicans, I was convinced Stotts and Dame were carrying Olshey. Now I see the Stotts/Olshey relationship as more of a suicide pact with Dame as collateral damage.

And yes, I am in full "angry old man" mode and my patience is all used up.

I would love to see Olshey gone so someone with no bias can come in and really look at the team before the trade deadline. Maybe move Olshey first, tell Stotts he has a pass for the rest of the season, but he has to play who the new GM tells him to for evaluation and tanking purposes. This team needs a fresh set of eyes with no favorites.

This gave me a caught-by-surprise laugh.

Quick on radio just said, "Neil is fighting for his job right now."

Is he legitimately in trouble? "No question. In the end of season press conference, when he was so condescending to fans, the tide turned. He keeps selling the future and hints at future moves, that always keep getting pushed back. I don't see how Paul can justify keeping him unless he greatly improves the roster."
I wish Paul could've made it one more year for this reason.

I agree with you. NO has had some good moves & some bad moves. Out of the 30 GMs, I'd rank him in the 14-18th best range. That's just jot good enough to get to championship contender level
Nah, he's in the bottom 10. Maybe bottom 5.

I'm glad people are finally realizing that Stotts isn't some elite coach.

I hope this doesn't come along the wrong way. I loved Paul and wish he could've owned the Blazers forever. But frankly, could Paul have had a more untimely passing? One more year with him and the coach and GM would've been gone. One year sooner and the team would've likely been sold by now and they probably would've sent Terry and Neil packing. As it is, we have to put up with at least another year of this. Hopefully that's all though.

I mean I think he did well one year in Portland (you dont), but who has actually claimed he’s an elite coach? His record is like about as mediocre as it can get...
