Yeah, Nurkic is in there somewhere.

9 years, and Nurk is the 2nd best player Olshey has brought in to play next to Dame?

Since people like do these exercises: Is there a GM who's had a job for the last 9 years and their 3rd best acquisition is a Nurk level player? Their best acquisition in the last 8 years was never an all-star? Rare territory Olshey is in.

I don’t get it

I can only speculate, but I think it's pretty safe to assume he's saying if Dame has enough power to put pressure on the Govenor to modify her public safety stance, he should try to put pressure on the teams GM to modify his run-it-back stance.

I think the assertion is that Nurkic is the best player Olshey has brought in for Dame since Aldridge was a Blazer before Olshey arrived

funny thing is if Denver hadn't added a 1st round pick at the last minute, Olshey would have very likely traded for Okafor instead of Nurkic

You have to give credit to Olshey for picking CJ; his best addition in 9 years. Nurk is his best addition in the last 8 years though. That's a long run without a major improvement or adjustment.

I agree that the 1st round pick was supposed to be the main assest in the Nurk trade.

Sorry fellas, Nurk, since he's been here, has played in 10 playoff games, and we won 1.

Nurkic has a massive body, but Butterfingers performs worse per minute than the surehanded Claw Kanter. If one had to go, I'd keep Claw over the Bosnian Bobbler.

Anyone who wants Olshey gone must answer just one question.

1. Who will replace him?

You have a name? Shit. Okay, then

2. Will he take the job?

You asked him and he will? Shit. Okay,

3. Did you get him to sign a contract?

...Because I have a name for our next GM. He is already under contract. Terry Stotts knows the Blazers like the back of his hand and the front of his palm. He will hit the ground running. I heretofore toss his hat into the ring. Terry Stotts is our next GM. Four more years!

Man, we would lose so many games.

Could’ve had Harden but Neil was unwilling to include CJ.

Dame and Harden would’ve been the most potent backcourt in the history of the NBA.

May mud be upon him :smack:

The biggest benefit I can think of for ditching Neil and Terry is just bringing in a set of fresh eyes. The NBA changes fast and staleness is a death kneel for teams.

Would you take Ainge as a replacement?

Absolutely not! The guy spent years amassing and then squandering assets. Boston has to be one of the most disappointing teams going (yes, even more so than Portland). I actually feel sorry for the Boston fans (gag). The only reason Boston won a ring on Ainge’s watch is because he fleeced one of his best friends (McHale) and the friend went along with it. Then Ainge pretty much pissed it all away. Danny Ainge has to be the most overrated GM in the league. Hard pass.

Ainge is a scrub, so no.

I’d take him over Olshey if it was life or death though.

Would you take Ainge as a replacement?

For Rod Strickland, maybe.

I think the heat is finally on the team to make changes. Dame is putting on historical performances in this series and we're just not good enough. It's becoming PAINFULLY obvious to the rest of the world that this team is mismanaged. I expect a serious shakeup this summer because people are actually starting to say "free Dame."

The rest of the league is finally waking up to how insanely good Lillard is. He has gotten respect and people say he's a great player, but people are FINALLY seeing that this guy is one of the best guards in the history of the league.

Could you imagine Dame playing for New York? He wouldn't even be able to walk down the street in NYC. He would be the most popular person in the state. Oshley let him down.

Will Jody and Chris have what it takes? Or will they be too cheap to let him go because he still has 3 years left on his deal?

We need an objective outside GM who doesn’t have irrational attachments to Simons, cj, little, etc. otherwise cj isn’t getting traded because Neil won’t get the all star player he thinks cj should return.

Bump. Bump it up. Bump it.

Is this the New GM thread? Because I have questions.

Can’t believe he kept his job.

if he's still the GM thru next season's trade deadline, I'm about 95% certain that at this point next season, Portland will have exited the playoffs in the 1st round, assuming they weren't in the lottery

As if there were any more need for reasons.... but yet again he shows it again today - Olshey needs to go!
