Firing him now is as much of an indictment on the organization as it is on Olshey, it's not gonna happen.....for now.

Olshey better pull out a stellar off-season in terms of roster construction. This is stupid, but a blockbuster trade would actually take some of the heat off him.

In that last sentence you are right on both points... it's fucking ridiculous that Neil has been exposed and it looks like he could totally escape the heat if he'll just make some legit moves for once.

So far, I've really liked his basketball-related moves:
Billups is a great hire, IMHO
For zero cost, getting Michael Beasley to play summer league - a good move.
Not giving qualifying offer to Zach - the right move.

The last 2 aren't earth shattering, but it shows that he's on the right track.

Not giving the QO to Zach was a totally un-Olshey move, even if it was for sure the right one.

Now it's confirmed we came out of the 2017 draft with nothing to show for it.

Well since he's going to make it a decade I just hope he finally grows a spine and puts the pieces around Dame that will bring the success that will keep Dame here.

Not sure of the point of the 2nd sentence. Injuries happen. What did Sac come out of it with?

With three picks and a loaded draft, you would expect to have at least one player still on the roster.

Also being compared to Sacramento is just adding insult to injury. Please, I'm already depressed about this off-season.

Yep, I still don't fault Olshey for missing with picks. The only move in the draft that I ever saw and thought... oh now that should get someone fired was

Now the Blazers had to fire the group that did the investigation in to Billups because the main guy at the firm was posting cuckold video?

You can't make this stuff up.

Saw that too, LOL. Too funny, apparently they’ve used this group for over 11 years! 11 years!

Fucking amateur hour

This debacle is 100% on Neil.

His indifference to mediocrity is what Dame was alluding to in that Haynes piece.

I detest Olshey and have wanted his oily ass fired for 6 years

he has driven the Blazers into a deep ditch with his ego-driven mismanagement. BUT, at this point you can't really condemn Olshey without also condemning ownership. Seattle has give a green light to Olshey's fuckups for years now....and are still doing so.

Dame stating the obvious that this roster needs an upgrade of talent - no more tinkering with marginal upgrades.

Neil and Bert are in charge of roster construction…

We’re über fucked with the clown show that is the Olshey administration :banghead2:

When Dame, the most loyal and blindly optimistic teammate has came to the conclusion the roster isn't good enough before the GM, we're at a total loss.

Sounds like Dame is basically giving Olshey an ultimatum.....but it may be too late. There isn't a lot to work with, no Draft picks this year for capital, he doesn't have a single significant contributor from the Draft since 2013 (that is downright brutal), and the cap situation of his own doing is going to make it much more difficult to make moves. He had one of the highest payrolls in the league at one point and nothing to show for it.

GS is/was in Cap hell.....but it was certainly worth it. Portland is in cap hell while being irrelevant.

I have a theory that we have been cursed as a franchise. We were blessed with Dame, but the catch was that his fate and that of Olshey are inextricably linked, so that we have Olshey as long as we have Dame and vice-versa.

If that was true, would you trade Dame? Or never fire Olshey?

If he gets fired, he'll get paid by the Blazers for the rest of his contract and he'll be able to go to a big market (in his eyes) and double dip.
I don't think you get to double-dip. Your contract is voided as soon as you're hired by another franchise (somebody correct me if I'm wrong).

Historically - and maybe this has changed but this is how it used to be - in order to encourage people to go get another job, you would still get paid the previous contract but about half, plus your full new salary. At least this is what a former GM in GS had happen.
