Remember when Lillard wanted to step over the incompetent Olshey and meet directly with Paul?

yeah, I remember, only 3 years ago

Things sure changed over the last 2 months. Lillard made a point of saying he actually felt this year's team was different than the past Blazer teams. That it had the talent and maturity to actually make lots of noise in the playoffs. Then the Denver series gutted the Blazers

then, Olshey fired Stotts while holding himself blameless for anything. It was all coaching and the roster was fine. Stotts under the bus. I have to believe than rankled Dame, maybe a lot

and now, what is happening? Mr. never accountable is hiring a coach while Dame is out front getting hammered for the moves made by the GM. This, after a few years when Dame was hammered for being too quiet and accepting of the status quo. It's a no-win situation for Dame and he's obviously upset by it. If, at the same time he feels that Seattle is not holding Olshey accountable, and it sure as hell appears to be the case, than yeah, Dame may be on the verge of asking out. And if that happens, it would mean that after 9 years of driving the Blazers into ditches, Olshey will have driven them off a cliff

Even if Billups is the right guy, this handling of the news dump and coaching hire in general has me irritated. Masai is sitting right there still. Come on, Jody.

I know it's awkward to hire a coach before a GM, but suck it up and do it.

Dwight Jaynes: I'd like to see how Olshey does without Stotts

Neil is putting all the blame on Lillard.

Leaking this info is an odd way to ease this PR nightmare created by Neil and Bert.

what if Olshey doesn't want the damage to stop because his real goal is to force Dame into demanding a trade?

I look at what has happened since the denver series, the things Olshey said in the press conference, and the way Olshey has not so subtly tried to cover his own ass by deflecting blame from himself onto Dame; and the only scenario that makes sense is if Olshey wants to trade Dame

the damage and fallout from the loss to Denver just keeps growing, and the damge will keep growing every day that Olshey is in charge. This fucking mess is on Seattle now, because it's completely obvious that Olshey should have had his snake-oil ass fired before Stotts

WHY THE HELL DIDN'T THEY FIRE NEIL!?!?!

Masai would decline us even if you offered him record money.

I'm a little confused. We got the coach we wanted so let's fire Olshey or the team is going nowhere?

Don't buy it. The national media thought we were the most improved team in the off-season. He's got his flaws but I expect big things from Neil this summer. He's one of the better GMs in the league as cited by votes from other front offices.

He deserves a lot of blame but he's also really good at adding talent to our roster.

He better be ready to finally split up Dame and CJ and he better not let Norm walk without anything to show for it.

The guy has got one total vote for executive of the year in the last two years.

He got the coach he wanted last time as well.

You're more than just a little confused...

You're delusional to think that Neil is 'one of the better' GM in the league. In no way is he in the top 10.

Having said that, he does make a good move on occasion... I'd put the Billups hire as one of those good moves

Billups might be great, but hiring an unproven coach with 1 year assistant coaching experience should not be on the Top 10 list of best moves a GM has made over the last 9 years.
